Job description

Position Title: Drafter / Designer / CAD Specialist I

Status: Exempt

Division: Corporate

Reports to: Engineering Manager

Purpose is to prepare and create detailed schematics, layouts, blueprints, and other miscellaneous technical exhibits using computer-aided design (CAD) software for use in the manufacturing of Stuppy products and to synthesize input such as manufacturing specifications, detailed notes from other engineering team members for use in the production process.

Essential Functions

· Review project summary worksheets, sales orders, quotations, and new product specifications for the purpose of assembling construction drawings.

· Create detailed drawings of products, systems and equipment utilizing CAD software.

· Develop Bill of Materials (BOM) lists for Stuppy greenhouses and other products.

· AutoCAD Inventor, SolidWorks or SolarEdge Experience Preferred.

· Make modifications to construction drawings for clarification.

· Maintain database information on drawings sent to customers.

· Maintain spreadsheets and other materials lists for configuring greenhouses and related products.

· Investigative work to solve on-site problems and product improvement.

· Answer customer and production questions related to product and greenhouse drawings.

· Interpret construction drawings and communicate details clearly with customers and team members.

· Stay current with product designs and construction techniques.

· Assist engineering with documentation of construction procedures and best practices.

· Assist sales with gathering information and answering questions on quotes and bids.

· Assist in research and development by modeling new products.

· Assist Design Engineers in drafting or any other needs.

· Input and maintain new part information in both Kinetic and the Item Number Excel file.

· Assist in training new drafters and project coordinators.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

· Bachelor’s degree preferred or an engineering tech or CAD technical degree required.

· Additional certification from the American Design Drafting Association (ADDA) is a plus.

· New graduates with limited or up to 2 years’ experience in drafting and/or engineering in consumer or industrial product design, and experience in the building or construction industry a plus.

· Extensive experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software and 3D Modeling Tools.

· High technical and mechanical aptitude and familiarity with various engineering applications and advanced skill using Microsoft Office Suite of products.

· Understanding of how to read, relay, and troubleshoot information from drawings to builders, customers, or other Stuppy employees.

· Ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously, each at different stages of completion.

· Work intuitively, with the ability to identify problems before they negatively affect projects.

· Identify and resolve unexpected problems, escalated issues or create innovative solutions.

· Excellent organizational skills and ability to streamline processes for maximum efficiency.

· Excellent communication skills include telephone, email and report writing.

· Collaborative interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with associates at all levels of the organization, customers, and external parties.

· Self-accountability while working with a strong sense of urgency.

· Work with deadlines subject to changing priorities and other adjustments.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Standard office with manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of the position, the employee is constantly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms with medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 lbs. They may be frequently exposed to loud noises and bright light. Vision perception is normal for administrative duties.
