Junior Systems Integrator - Production Planning & Data Analysis

1. Position Overview

The Defense Sector at Leidos currently has an opening for a Junior Systems Integrator to work in our Sterling, Virginia facility in direct support of Leidos Sterling Integration manufacturing operations. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your technical skills in a dynamic production environment supporting critical Defense work.

In this role, you will be embedded at a Leidos manufacturing facility where you will support the full lifecycle of rack integration and console production efforts - from hardware assembly and inspection through as-built documentation and systems closeout. You will also contribute to the development and improvement of manufacturing software and business process tools, bridging operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) environments to advance the efficiency of day-to-day manufacturing operations.

2. Primary Responsibilities

  • Support hardware fabrication, assembly, integration, and related manufacturing activities at the Sterling, Virgina, facility for multiple program rack integration efforts.
  • Document the day-to-day development of as-built architecture for rack integration efforts, maintaining accuracy and traceability of integration records.
  • Maintain and update integration procedures and work instructions to reflect current build configurations and process revisions.
  • Perform and document checks and inspections, recording integration results and tracking discrepancies or issues to closure within the system integration process.
  • Review inspection criteria and support the integration environment to ensure compliance with program requirements and quality standards.
  • Conduct data analysis to support production planning activities, identifying trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Perform computer programming tasks in support of manufacturing systems development, including scripting, tool development, and data pipeline creation.
  • Support the development and implementation of manufacturing and business software applications using Microsoft SharePoint and other platforms to improve operational workflows.
  • Contribute to OT/IT integration initiatives, enabling systems, tools, and software to better connect manufacturing processes with business systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business process improvement initiatives related to missions, systems, and fiscal requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical documentation, briefings, and reports as required to support program milestones and leadership reviews.

3. Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Less than 2 years of prior relevant experience in systems integration, manufacturing engineering, production planning, data analysis, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated understanding of hardware assembly, integration, or manufacturing support processes.
  • Basic proficiency in computer programming or scripting (e.g., Python, VBA, JavaScript, or similar) for data analysis or process automation.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools and techniques; ability to collect, organize, and interpret data to support operational decisions.
  • Experience with or demonstrated ability to learn Microsoft SharePoint or similar collaboration and workflow platforms.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to document technical processes, procedures, and integration results clearly and accurately.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance as required by the program.

4. Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship, co-op, or project experience in a manufacturing, integration lab, or defense production environment.
  • Hands-on experience with rack-level hardware integration, cable harness assembly, or electronics manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with OT/IT integration concepts, industrial control systems, or manufacturing execution systems (MES).
  • Experience developing or maintaining SharePoint sites, Power Apps, Power Automate workflows, or similar low-code/no-code manufacturing tools.
  • Working knowledge of configuration management principles and as-built documentation practices.
  • Exposure to Agile, Lean, or Six Sigma process improvement methodologies.
  • Active DoD Secret or TS/SCI clearance.
  • Experience with SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization and business intelligence tools.
  • Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar quality management standards applicable to defense manufacturing.
