Paid Intern (Per Diem)


FLSA Status: Per Diem, Non-Exempt

Pay Range: $18.75 - $20.00 per hour

Location: Jensen Meat Company – Otay Mesa, CA.


Overview

Jensen Meat Company is seeking motivated and career-driven college students to participate in our Paid Internship Program. This internship provides students with meaningful, hands-on experience in a professional manufacturing environment while allowing them to apply classroom knowledge to real-world business challenges.


Interns will be assigned to departments that closely align with their academic field of study whenever practical, including Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Production Planning, Food Safety, Quality Assurance, Information Technology, and other business functions.


This position is designed to provide practical work experience, professional mentorship, and exposure to cross-functional business operations. Interns may also assist with company-wide initiatives, special projects, and organizational events as business needs require.


The ideal candidate is dependable, eager to learn, highly organized, adaptable, and committed to developing professionally while contributing to the organization's success.


Primary Responsibilities

Department Support

  • Assist assigned department with daily administrative and operational activities.
  • Support projects, research, reporting, and documentation related to departmental objectives.
  • Participate in meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Prepare reports, spreadsheets, presentations, and business correspondence.
  • Maintain accurate records while protecting confidential company information.
  • Assist with data entry and system updates as assigned.

Business Operations

  • Utilize Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Assist with special projects designed to improve operational efficiency.
  • Analyze information and provide recommendations when appropriate.
  • Complete assigned projects within established deadlines.
  • Support process improvement initiatives across the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Cross-Functional Support

  • Collaborate with employees from multiple departments.
  • Assist with company meetings, employee engagement activities, open houses, career fairs, recruiting events, community outreach, and other organizational initiatives.
  • Provide support to departments outside of their primary assignment when operational needs require.
  • Demonstrate professionalism while representing Jensen Meat Company.

Professional Development

  • Develop practical workplace skills through mentorship and coaching.
  • Gain exposure to manufacturing operations and business processes.
  • Learn professional communication, problem-solving, project management, and teamwork.

Qualifications

Education

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, community college, or vocational education program.
  • Enrollment may be full-time or part-time.
  • Undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to apply.
  • Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Must comply with all company safety policies and food safety requirements, including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Schedule

This is a Per Diem (As Needed) position.


Work schedules will vary based on departmental needs, project assignments, and the student's academic schedule. Internship hours may fluctuate throughout the year and are not guaranteed.


This position is not benefits eligible.
