Job Summary
The Engineering Specialist II (CAD Designer) is responsible for using Pro/ENGINEER (Pro/E) Creo to create and maintain 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and product definition data that support the design, development, and sustainment of GDOTS products. This role focuses on delivering high quality, manufacturable designs while adhering to established CAD, drafting, and product definition standards. The candidate will support model-based design practices, contribute to the development and refinement of CAD/PDM/PLM standards, and collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and other elements of cross functional program teams. This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate, consistent, and efficient product definition throughout the product lifecycle.

Essential Functions
  • Applies standard engineering techniques to design, analyze, test, maintain, repair, or improve products, components, or assemblies.
  • Analyzes, develops and evaluates systems.
  • Improves and maintains current systems or creates brand new projects.
  • Designs and drafts blueprints, visits systems in the field and manages projects.
  • Applies engineering techniques and analyses within the scope of the assignment.
    • Additional Responsibilities
      Planning, developing and documenting conceptual and detailed product design information by creating CAD models, drawings and schematics; Assist with Change Notice creation and implementation; Perform tolerance studies; Assist with root cause analysis efforts; Collaborate with other departments, suppliers, customers and locations as needed; Active participant in safety related topics; Active participant in continuous improvement initiatives
      Required Qualifications
      • Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 2-4 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
      • Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

      Preferred Qualifications
      • Experienced with the following:
        • Experience in the use of solid modeling CAD solutions
        • Exposure to GD&T fundamentals
        • Able to manage priorities and complete tasks in accordance with project requirements and milestones
        • Able to discuss technical issues and communicate effectively with engineers, designers, management and other functions
      • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Oral and written communication skills. Critical thinking. Analytical thinking. Problem solving skills. Mathematic skills. Computer skills. Technical expertise.

      Physical Requirements
      • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
      • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
      • May need to stand for long periods of time.
      • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
      • This position is Safety-Sensitive.

      Travel Requirements
      Up to 25% travel likely.
      Pay Range (USD)
      $68,000.00 to $92,000.00
      Pay Transparency Statement
      The salary range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum for salary for this position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, internal equity, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the range during the hiring process.
      Additional Compensation
      Hired applicant may be eligible to participate in the Company's Gain Sharing Program.
