Responsibilities

The Business Analyst I reports to the Director of Shared Services and provides comprehensive analytical and data enablement support across multiple business domains and data needs. This role manages and leads multiple concurrent projects while delivering new, data-driven insights that shape strategic business decisions through a blend of technical, analytical, and professional skills. In this capacity, the Business Analyst I develops a working understanding of key business systems and data sources, performs ETL-related activities by extracting data from disparate systems, cleansing, and transforming it as needed, and validating data quality to ensure it is reliable and fit for purpose. The role produces actionable reports, forecasts, and analyses; designs and maintains BI dashboards and metrics to support operational and executive decision-making; and enables automation use cases by preparing and structuring data for repeatable workflows. Additionally, the Business Analyst I supports advanced analytics initiatives by curating datasets suitable for machine learning and AI model consumption, ensuring consistent definitions, governance alignment, and documentation. Strong collaboration and communication skills are essential to partner effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, translate business needs into data requirements, and present clear, well-supported recommendations, including proposing a course of action based on analysis, market knowledge, and measurable outcomes.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  • Education & Experience
    • Master's degree in business analytics, engineering, mathematics, computer science, or related field required.
    • 0-2 years of experience (internship, co-op, or professional) in data analysis, reporting, business analysis, or related work preferred. 
  • Technical Skills
    • Working knowledge of data analysis and reporting tools: Excel (pivot tables, lookups), and business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Qlik.
    • Proficient writing SQL queries (joins, aggregations, filters) to extract and validate data from relational databases.
    • Exposure to ETL concepts and practices: extracting data from business systems, cleaning/transforming data, validating results, and documenting assumptions/definitions.
    • Basic scripting experience in Python required for data cleaning, analysis, or automation tasks.
    • Familiarity with data quality practices (reconciliation, exception checks, source-to-report validation) and maintaining consistent metrics/definitions. 
  • Analytical & Business Skills
    • Ability to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and recommend practical solutions supported by data.
    • Ability to visualize data and communicate insights through dashboards, scorecards, and clear written summaries. 
  • Professional Skills
    • Strong time management and prioritization skills; able to balance competing stakeholders' needs, manage multiple concurrent requests, and deliver on deadlines.
    • Strong written and verbal communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

    BioMedical Services, Inc. offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package that provides employees the flexibility to tailor benefits according to their individual needs. Our Total Rewards package includes, but is not limited to, paid time off, a 401K retirement plan, medical, dental, and vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, and many more voluntary benefit options.  Benefits may vary based on employment status, i.e. full-time, part-time, per diem or temporary.  A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $66,560.00 to $95,680.00 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
