ORGANIZATION SUMMARY:
World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world's greatest crises in partnership with the church. The organization was founded in the aftermath of World War II to respond to the urgent humanitarian needs of war-torn Europe. Since then, for 80 years, across 100 countries, World Relief has partnered with local churches and communities to build a world where families thrive and communities flourish.
Today, organizational programming focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening and resilience, and refugee & immigrant services and advocacy.
POSITION SUMMARY:
World Relief Upstate SC is seeking a dynamic Economic Empowerment Intern to walk alongside refugees and immigrants on their path toward economic self-sufficiency. This unpaid internship offers hands-on experience in workforce development and refugee resettlement services. The intern will support Economic Empowerment Specialists in delivering holistic employment services, including job readiness activities, case management, employment preparation, and career pathways coaching. Under supervision, the intern will assist clients with job search processes, workplace readiness, and access to community resources that support job retention and long-term advancement. Additional responsibilities include coordinating and supporting workshops, trainings, and informational sessions that prepare clients to navigate the U.S. workforce and adapt to their new community. The intern will also assist with preparing materials, tracking participation, managing program logistics, and supporting employer engagement activities. Through this experience, the intern will contribute meaningfully to sustainable employment pathways for some of our most resilient community members - while gaining valuable, real-world experience in nonprofit program operations. Internship Details:

Responsibilities
  • Assist staff with job readiness activities, including resumes, applications, and interview preparation
  • Support clients during the job search process and connect them to community resources
  • Help maintain accurate client records, files, and data entry in program systems
  • Assist with case management tasks under staff supervision
  • Prepare materials and set up for workshops, orientations, and trainings
  • Provide logistical support during classes, meetings, and group sessions
  • Help coordinate schedules, appointments, and communications with clients
  • Support outreach and follow-up with clients regarding services and activities
  • Assist with employer engagement tasks such as maintaining job leads and resource lists
  • Perform general administrative duties as assigned to support program operations
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Requirements
