Our US Energy & Resources practice is looking for Summer Interns to join the Commodities & Energy Trading team in Houston.

Our clients rely on our deep industry expertise to navigate a trading landscape defined by price volatility, increasingly complex value chains, and evolving regulatory demands. Our team works on complex strategic, commercial, and transformational issues across oil & gas, power and utilities, energy trading, and broader energy markets.

What you will be doing

As part of our team, you will work closely with clients on the following types of challenging, high-impact engagements:

  • Trading business transformation–including capability assessments, target operating model design, and IT and change management for trading organizations.
  • Commercial & TradingStrategy – portfolio strategy, operating model, value-chain strategy and strategic planning
  • Growth Strategy – market entry, new business development, organic growth and adjacency strategies
  • Mergers & Acquisitions–transaction strategy, integration strategy, operating model design, synergy identification and execution
  • Finance & Risk – financial performance, risk management, trading risk, capital allocation and related strategic finance topics
  • ETRM/Bid-to-Bill Advisory – design and client-side implementation across the leading vendor platforms (e.g., OpenLink, Endur, PCI, Allegro, SAP CM, etc.)
Your skills and experience

We are looking to hire motivated Summer Interns in the early part of their careers that want to develop into energy and commodity trading practitioners, who are passionate about helping clients to deliver their most complex and strategic transformations. We are particularly interested in candidates with a substantive management or strategy consulting background (via clubs or past internships) and an eagerness to learn about the energy industry.

Successful candidates will typically:

  • Have an interest in strategic issues within the energy and natural resources sector, particularly within the US sectors including midstream and downstream oil & gas, LNG and natural gas, power, energy and commodity trading, integrated energy companies, or energy infrastructure and related markets
  • Have a strong management or strategy consulting background
  • Can structure and solve complex, ambiguous business problems, translating detailed analysis into clear strategic recommendations
  • Bring strong analytical, commercial and problem-solving capabilities, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be confident in settings with senior executives and cross-functional teams, demonstrating strong commercial drive and intellectual curiosity
  • Are interested in the intersection of strategy, transactions, trading, finance and risk

Requirements:

  • Ability to commute to client sites located primarily in the Houston Metroplex each day, as well the Baringa Houston office (located in the Energy Corridor in West Houston) each Friday
