Pay Range: $87,000 - $109,000 depending on relevant experience and qualifications
MITER Brands™ is a residential window and door manufacturer that provides a leading portfolio of window and door brands for the new construction and replacement segments. MITER Brands, also known as Milgard, MI Windows & Doors and PGT, is one of the nation's largest suppliers of vinyl windows and patio doors, with plants across the country.
The Code Compliance Engineer III monitors building code approvals and their effect on Miter Brands' current and planned products, supports other departments on interpretation of building codes and notifies other departments of any code changes affecting company products, obtains certification for all products in conjunction with product and market requirements set forth by sales/marketing, performs project specific engineering, and works with the front end of the business to drive incremental sales.

  • Monitors and drives changes in building and energy codes that affect the window industry, including Miami-Dade, ASCE, ASTM, AAMA, ICC, NFRC, FPA, and TDI.
  • Attends industry meetings and drives modifications to building codes and testing standards that strategically align with our business. Determines and communicates how these changes affect current and future products.
  • Provides direction and prepares engineering packages for product approval by code bodies.
  • Determines required design parameters for product testing.
  • Provides dealer and customer support on issues relating to building and energy codes.
  • Interprets regional design implications from customers, sales representatives, and service representatives to determine requirements for testing and product design.
  • Monitors status of current certifications and plans for recertification to maintain product approvals.
  • Manages reporting of status of all state, energy, and national codes.
  • Prepares certifications of job-specific applications and insurance forms.
  • Plans testing requirements for in-house and field-testing.
  • Works with Sales and Marketing on new business opportunities.
  • Works with Product Engineering to develop new design concepts.
  • Develops budgeting requirements for the department.
  • Provides engineering analysis to win projects utilizing Miter Brands products that are outside of our currently certified offering.
  • Meets in person with distributors and key decision makers on upcoming projects, including the project "Engineer of Record" and "Architect."
  • Provides guidance to Code Compliance Engineers & Code Compliance Specialists.
  • Supervises, mentors, and develops engineering interns.

Requirements
  • B.S. Degree in Engineering (or related field) and four years of engineering experience in the fenestration industry, or a minimum of eight years of related Engineering experience.
  • Relevant certifications such as Fundamentals of Engineering (FE), Professional Engineer (PE), or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) are a plus.
  • Experience managing capital projects.
  • Ability to gain working knowledge of all specifications required for the in-house and field-testing of windows, doors, and any other products produced by Miter Brands.
  • Ability to gain familiarity with Miter Brands products and testing procedures.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and AutoCAD.
  • Proficient in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Ability to travel occasionally domestically.
