This position is for an experienced CNC machine operator who understands the machining process and can take responsibility for keeping production running properly. You do not need to be a programmer or full setup machinist, but you should be comfortable operating CNC equipment independently, inspecting parts, making offsets, changing worn tools and recognizing when something isn't running correctly.

⚙️ What You’ll Be Doing

• Operate CNC machines during production runs
• Load raw material or parts and unload completed components
• Perform in-process inspections according to established requirements
• Read blueprints and understand part dimensions and tolerances
• Use micrometers, calipers, gauges and other inspection equipment
• Make tool and wear offsets to maintain part dimensions
• Change inserts and basic cutting tools as they wear
• Monitor tool life, part quality and machine performance throughout production
• Recognize dimensional trends and make adjustments before parts go out of tolerance
• Identify common machining problems and know when additional assistance is needed
• Verify parts after tool changes or adjustments
• Monitor bar feeders and other automated production equipment when assigned
• Keep machines supplied with material and running efficiently
• Complete required production and inspection documentation
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area
• Communicate tooling, quality or machine issues to setup personnel and management

This is primarily an operator position, and full machine setups or CNC programming are not required.

✅ What We’re Looking For

5+ years of CNC machining experience is required. This position is intended for someone who already has meaningful experience working with CNC equipment and understands the fundamentals of production machining.

Candidates should be able to:

• Independently operate CNC equipment once a job has been set up
• Read blueprints and understand dimensions and tolerances
• Properly use micrometers, calipers and other common inspection equipment
• Inspect parts and determine whether they meet specifications
• Make tool and wear offsets to maintain dimensions
• Change inserts and basic tooling when necessary
• Understand tool wear and how it affects part quality
• Recognize when a machine, tool or process is not operating normally
• Follow established setup, inspection and production procedures
• Manage more than one machine or production process when appropriate
• Maintain consistent quality throughout a production run
• Work independently without requiring constant supervision
• Maintain dependable attendance and a safe, organized work area

Experience with any of the following is especially valuable:

• Okuma CNC lathes
• CNC turning
• Star or other Swiss-type CNC machines
• Haas CNC mills
• Automatic bar feeders
• High-volume production machining
• Close-tolerance components
• Tool changes and offsets
• Blueprint reading and inspection

Experience with our specific machines is not required. Candidates with 5+ years of experience operating other CNC equipment are encouraged to apply.

Opportunity to Grow

This position does not require you to already be a CNC setup machinist or programmer.

For operators interested in advancing their skills, there may be opportunities to learn additional responsibilities such as tooling, changeovers, machine setups, troubleshooting and program editing.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This position is based in an indoor, air-conditioned CNC manufacturing environment with multiple machines operating throughout the workday. Employees may work around machine tools, cutting tools, metal chips, cutting fluids, coolant and oils.

The position requires regular standing and walking and may involve reaching, bending, handling tools and materials, and lifting or moving items associated with CNC production.

Compensation will be based on the candidate's CNC experience, inspection skills, ability to make adjustments and ability to independently manage production equipment.
