Job description
SUMMARY OF THE JOB
This position is for a mechanically inclined individual who possesses a positive attitude and desire to continuous improvement. This position requires setting up all tooling for machines, program, run, and perform their own quality checks.
This person will be a key player in ensuring first time quality and delivery change over components to the headers. The Tool/Pack Room will work toward ensuring on-time delivery and first time quality of changeover components to the headers during changeovers.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide assistance to machine operators on new job development
- Ability to operate Tool Room equipment with limited supervision to meet necessary quality and productivity requirements. Horizontal, vertical hones, OD/ID grinders, surface grinders, centerless, and polishing.
- Ability to read most manufacturing and tooling prints, select and prepare necessary tools to meet print tolerances.
- Utilize Toolroom inspection equipment - micrometers, calipers, indicators, contour tracers, microscope, and comparators.
- Maintains cleanliness of work area.
- Follows company safety guidelines.
- Performs preventative maintenance when required.
- Programming and setup of CNC machines.
- Knowledge of tools to perform turning, milling, drilling, and boring.
- Responsible for own inspection of tooling.
- Strong Mathematical and problem solving skills.
- All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Basic computer skills using Google Workspace (sheets, docs, drive, chat, Gmail, etc.)
- Solid math skills
- Mechanically inclined, shop classes or manufacturing process training is required
- Basic problem solving skills Ability to identify routine problem causation and correct routine problems
