Job Summary:
Under close supervision, this position will gain hands-on experience supporting transportation brokerage operations. This role gains exposure to market dynamics, carrier negotiation strategies, and tools used to deliver efficient solutions. This role learns about establishing a carrier base and attaining optimal margins while delivering best-in-class service execution.
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities: • Gain exposure and understanding of the transportation industry • Become involved and participate in daily transportation brokerage activities; verify carrier authenticity, maintain accurate shipment records, and monitor freight movement to uphold service expectations • Build an understanding of market trends, pricing strategies, and capacity challenges that support carrier negotiations and contribute to revenue and margin goals • Observe and practice serving as a liaison between internal stakeholders and carriers: gain competence in how service failures are proactively communicated to minimize cost and operational inefficiencies while providing best-in-class service • Learn about the technology and tools J.B. Hunt leverages to streamline workflows, enable carrier access to load management, and promote efficiency
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program OR graduate degree program in good standing at an accredited community college, college or university.
Must be able to work 40 hours a week during the summer.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment and shifting priorities and directives
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
Willingness to work flexible hours
Junior or Senior level preferred
This position is not eligible for employment-based sponsorship.
Compensation:
Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company's bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
