Gagosian is hiring a full-time Gallery Assistant to join its New York City team.
Gagosian seeks a polished, energetic Gallery Assistant, with knowledge and passion for the arts, to work with the public in an administrative capacity. The ideal candidate will be friendly yet professional, maintain composure under pressure, has excellent judgment and ability to prioritize, a great memory for faces, and must have outstanding phone manner.

M

anage reception area, serving as the first point of contact and handling all incoming and
outgoing calls in a bright, professional manner.

A

ssistant with daily gallery logistics, including preparing overnight shipments and messenger
deliveries, book reservations for appointments, receiving and distributing mail, ordering
supplies, and scheduling security guards.

A

ssist the Gallery openings, special events and meetings, such as the preparation of
beverages, room reservations, press packets, catalogues, etc.

L

earn and recognize key industry figures, building a strong working knowledge of major
clients, artists, and colleagues.

I

nteract professionally with gallery employees, interns, and clients at all levels.

U

pdate auction calendar and track relevant auctions.

A

ssist the Publications Department with warehouse shipments.

M

anage the gallery database, ensuring all entries are accurate and consistently updated.

P

repare gallery finance reports, maintain credit card receipts, and review and pay shipping
invoices.

M

aintain a clean and tidy reception area.

M

entor and oversee gallery interns, ensuring they are integrated into daily workflows and
supported in their professional development.

A

ssist staff with ad hoc projects as requested.

B

A and/or Master's degree in Art History or related field.

M

inimum one year's experience in a gallery or museum, including internship experience.

A

bility to work after hours for certain client viewings, openings and events.

M

ust be able to consistently lift up to 30 lbs and be able to stand and walk for extended
periods during a shift.
