Job description

The Process Engineer  position will be in our Wichita Falls, Texas facility and will support manufacturing through process control, improvement initiatives, and assume direct responsibility for integrity for assigned products.

This involves quoting new developmental parts, attending to process engineering concerns for developmental parts, assisting with obtaining new business, working to improve existing processes, developing and using new technologies, and providing technical support to Howmet Aerospace, Wichita Falls.   Ability to conduct metallurgical studies to support the organization in the areas of product quality; failure analysis and determination of root cause.

Job Responsibilities 

  • Plans and formulates engineering programs within area of assigned responsibility.
  • Implements and reviews process design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards and customer contract requirements and related specifications.
  • Supports activities concerned with technical development, customer issues, cost reduction programs and in resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications and drawing releases.
  • Prepares interim and completion project report, as necessary.
  • Provide technical support for assigned coating, brazing and/or manufacturing area of assignment.
  • Interfaces with production personnel regarding all processing requirements.  Interact with suppliers and customers on technical issues.
  • Performs process quality investigations, as required.
  • Develops and implements process improvements and cost reductions.
  • Designs tools and fixtures pertinent to processing.
  • Generate material requisitions to initiate procurement.
  • Translate customer requirements into usable work instructions and interface with customer on technical issues.
  • Review purchase orders, specifications and blueprints for impact.
  • Assembles data packages for customer approval.
  • Specifies processing and generates work instructions.
  • Actively pursues elimination of waste, the improvement of equipment reliability and efficiency, and the reduction of operating costs.  Employs statistical methods as necessary.
  • Continuously improves the performance of job-related responsibilities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Materials Science or Metallurgy from an accredited institution.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 year's experience in Engineering in a Manufacturing Environment.
  • Experience working in a Casting environment.
  • Previous internship or co-op experience in a manufacturing environment or lab environment.
  • Strong verbal, written, and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of MS Office.
  • Able to work in a self-directed or team environment and have good organizations skills.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, statistical analysis, and scientific methods for problem solving.
