Job Title: Machine Operator | 1st Shift | $20+HR

Job Description

The Machine Operator sets up, operates, and monitors filling and packaging equipment to ensure products meet strict quality, safety, and regulatory standards. This role works on 1st shift and plays a key part in maintaining efficient production, accurate documentation, and a clean, compliant manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor Cryovac filling and related production equipment according to established procedures and standards.
  • Set up equipment at the start of production runs, including working with programmable logic controls (PLC) to ensure proper settings.
  • Partner with maintenance to troubleshoot mechanical and equipment issues to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.
  • Perform routine quality inspections to verify products meet all specifications and customer requirements.
  • Follow all documented procedures to reduce nonconformance reports and customer complaints while maintaining accurate product weights and quality standards.
  • Verify that the correct raw materials, packaging materials, and labels are used throughout the production process.
  • Record and maintain accurate production data in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Assist with root cause investigations related to customer complaints and nonconformance reports.
  • Support Lean manufacturing initiatives, continuous improvement projects, and improvement events.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, legal, and product requirements during all production activities.
  • Perform repetitive production tasks, general labor, and machine operation as needed to support overall line performance.
  • Operate filling machines and related production equipment in a consistent and efficient manner.
  • Handle and move materials using an electric pallet jack when required.

Essential Skills

  • Experience operating production, filling, or machine operation equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to be mechanically inclined for equipment setup and basic troubleshooting.
  • Experience operating an electric pallet jack.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds throughout the shift.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to understand and follow work instructions, procedures, and written communications.

Work Environment

Some areas of the plant can be cold; jackets are provided and may be worn in those zones. GMP requirements include no jewelry, false eyelashes, or visible piercings while on the production floor. Employees work around allergens and cleaning chemicals and regularly perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 60 pounds and standing, walking, climbing, and kneeling for extended periods. The work involves operating filling machines, production equipment, and electric pallet jacks in a structured, safety-focused manufacturing setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
