Job Summary:
This position is responsible for performing mechanical inspections, maintenance, and repairs, and is required to safely operate company vehicles and equipment such as; genie lift to clean exterior and windows and pump truck to empty waste holding tanks and fill fresh water tanks.

Responsibilities
  • Fully understand and support Xanterra's Mission Statement, Cultural Pillars, Community Commitment and Core Values.
  • Work safely and efficiently without injury to self, co-workers, passengers, or the public. Work safely without causing damage to property or equipment.
  • Visually inspect machinery or equipment to determine if it meets minimum requirements of safety operation, and customer service levels.
  • Responsible for reporting items that require maintenance or repair promptly.
  • Responsible for filling freshwater tanks and draining wastewater systems using a mechanical pump truck.
  • Certifies and safely operates company vehicles such as mechanical pumper truck, trash truck, gene lift, sky track, and forklift.
  • Performs maintenance and repairs on railroad equipment to maintain safety and proper operating standards.
  • Maintains proper care and use of materials, test equipment, machines, and hand tools normally associated with assigned job.
  • Operate various designs of manual track switches and derails in order to change the route of railroad equipment. Check switch points and derails to make sure the switch or derail is properly aligned.
  • Observe/monitor track conditions such as broken rails, defective switches or signals, track obstructions, weather-related problems, etc. Also observe/monitor railroad right-of-way, passing trains, vehicular traffic at crossings, position of switches, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Must possess a valid and clear Arizona Driver's License and comply with GCR Special Instructions and the Xanterra/GCR Vehicle Policy.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in trade work.
  • Previous experience working with heavy equipment.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.

Physical Requirements:
  • Heavy work, lifting and pulling up to 70 pounds occasionally and up to 100 pounds on a rare basis.
  • Stoop/bend/kneel/crouch/balance/climb on an consistent basis.
  • Walking long distances over uneven terrain.
  • Exposure to equipment that intensifies the heat factor on an occasional basis.
