Job description

HotFoot Recruiters is partnering with a MEP consulting engineering firm to hire a Electrical Systems Designer to join their design team in Phoenix, Arizona. This position is ideal for an electrical design professional seeking hands-on experience designing building electrical systems while working alongside experienced engineers on commercial and institutional projects. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to projects in industries such as semiconductor, healthcare, government, and commercial infrastructure.
Job Title: Electrical Systems Designer
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Schedule: Mon-Thurs 730A-530P, Friday 730A-1130A
Salary: 70K-90K DOE

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and documentation of electrical power, lighting, and distribution systems.
  • Develop construction drawings and layouts using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Perform load calculations, voltage drop analysis, and circuiting for building systems.
  • Research and apply national and local electrical codes (NEC, IBC, NFPA) to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants throughout all phases of design and construction.
  • Support the coordination of designs with other disciplines, including mechanical, plumbing, and structural.
  • Contribute to project specifications, submittal reviews, and respond to RFIs during construction.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in electrical design and building systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field required.
  • 1-5 years of experience in electrical building systems design (internships or entry-level experience welcome).
  • Familiarity with Revit and AutoCAD is a MUST
  • Additional software knowledge (e.g., COMcheck, Excel, OneNote) is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of lighting layouts, power distribution, panel schedules, and emergency systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines across multiple projects.
  • EIT certification or intent to pursue PE licensure is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team setting.
