Electrical Engineer (Experienced, Lead)

Company:

The Boeing Company

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to serve as a PCB Designer on our Electrical Engineering Capability Team in Huntsville, Alabama. This team designs, sustains, and upgrades next generation electronics concepts, and supports production and special test equipment design for increasing capacity requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

  • High speed digital circuit and signal integrity analysis.
  • Electrical design, simulation, and verification/validation testing of high-speed printed circuit board (PCB) design and electronic systems.
  • Work in digital design and signal integrity to perform design, simulation, and validation activities through product development lifecycles.
  • Provide design guidelines and support for system architecture design, board layout, product bring-up, debug, validation, and factory builds.

This position is expected to be fully onsite in Huntsville, AL.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • The ability, after starting in the role, to obtain an interim or final Secret U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Minimum years of experience: 3+for level 3, 5+ for level 4.
  • Experience with Schematics capture, PCB design, PCB layout, and routing with Siemens Expedition (Mentor Graphics) or another PCB design suite.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 10% domestically.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in Processor board design or complex digital design including processor or FPGA System on a chip (SOC).
  • Familiar with high-speed serial interface protocol like ethernet, PCIe.
  • Experience in FPGA sizing and power to support board design.
  • Strong understanding of PCB in design for manufacturing (DFM).
  • Ability to mentor and guide others in digital high-speed design and analysis.
  • Experience using Siemen (formally Mentor Graphic) Expedition Tool.
  • Experience with Rigi-Flex Board.
  • Design experience and knowledge of Printed Wiring Boards (PWB), circuit card assemblies, or harness.
  • Ability to generate board layout requirements to meet design performance and design for manufacture (DFM) requirements.

Typical Education & Experience:

Experienced (level3): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Lead (level 4): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
