The Senior Reliability Engineer is responsible for improving equipment reliability, reducing unplanned downtime, and supporting maintenance and manufacturing teams through data-driven root-cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives. This role focuses heavily on manufacturing equipment health, preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, and continuous improvement of production processes. The Senior Reliability Engineer also mentors maintenance and operations personnel to strengthen technical capability within the manufacturing environment.
This position reports to the Director of Facilities and is part of the Maintenance and Engineering team located in Pensacola, Florida, and will be an on-site role. At Cytiva, our vision is to advance future therapeutics from discovery to delivery.
What you will do:
  • Analyze equipment performance and failure data to identify root causes, document findings, and implement corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence. Assess and manage equipment obsolescence risks, identify aging or unsupported manufacturing assets, and lead projects to replace outdated equipment with modern, more reliable technology.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects and reliability initiatives focused on reducing process variation, minimizing equipment-related waste, and improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Establish and maintain critical spare parts strategies to improve equipment availability, maintenance standards, and equipment reliability documentation.
  • Improve manufacturing equipment reliability by developing and optimizing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, including vibration analysis, thermography, lubrication programs, and condition monitoring tools. Partners with production and maintenance teams to troubleshoot equipment issues, reduce unplanned downtime, and increase production throughput.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to evaluate equipment performance, implement engineering solutions, and support new equipment commissioning. Assist in new equipment installs and manufacturing line upgrades, ensuring design reliability and maintainability are built in from the start.
  • Support Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) and Process Safety Management (PSM) efforts by ensuring equipment and process changes comply with all regulatory and company standards.

Who you are:
  • 10+ years of experience in reliability engineering, maintenance engineering, asset management, or related technical roles within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise with reliability tools and methodologies such as RCA, FMEA, RCM, reliability modeling, or other predictive/preventative maintenance technologies.
  • Strong analytical and statistical skills with experience applying continuous improvement principles such as Lean, Six Sigma, or TPM.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical equipment in manufacturing environments.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: if applicable for role
  • Ability to travel up to 10% to other Cytiva manufacturing locations in the U.S. and internationally, as required.
  • Ability to work around industrial equipment, access platforms and components 5-6 feet off the ground, and lift/move 20-35 lb. materials or tools.
  • Ability to comfortably work in industrial environments (large-scale chemicals, heights, outside, etc...).

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
  • Previous experience with equipment and process deviation and validation activities (IQ, OQ, PQ).
  • Advanced skills in root-cause analysis using data-driven tools such as statistical modeling, condition monitoring systems, or CMMS analytics.
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or biotechnology.
  • Certification in reliability disciplines such as CMRP, CRE, or equivalent.
