Head Baseball Coach
Position Overview
Boise City Public School District is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Head Baseball Coach to lead and grow our high school baseball program. The ideal candidate will be committed to developing student-athletes both on and off the field by emphasizing sportsmanship, character, teamwork, and competitive excellence.
The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the baseball program, including player development, practice planning, game management, offseason conditioning, and program organization. Candidates who are interested in teaching opportunities within the district are encouraged to apply, as coaching assignments may be paired with available teaching positions when appropriate.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and supervise all aspects of the high school baseball program.
  • Develop and implement practice plans that promote individual skill development and team success.
  • Coach athletes during games while demonstrating professionalism and good sportsmanship.
  • Foster a positive team culture built on accountability, respect, leadership, and academic success.
  • Promote player development at all grade levels and collaborate with junior high coaches to build program continuity.
  • Ensure compliance with all OSSAA regulations, district policies, and athletic department expectations.
  • Maintain inventory and proper care of equipment and uniforms.
  • Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, administration, faculty, and community members.
  • Coordinate team travel, scheduling, fundraising, and other program-related activities as needed.
  • Attend coaches' meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events.
  • Encourage academic achievement and model high standards of integrity and citizenship.

Qualifications
  • Previous baseball coaching experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of baseball fundamentals, player development, and game strategy.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community.
  • Teaching certificate preferred. Non-certified applicants who meet district and OSSAA coaching requirements are encouraged to apply.
  • Must be able to obtain all required coaching certifications, background checks, and first aid/CPR certifications as required by district policy and OSSAA regulations.

  • Experience building and sustaining a successful athletic program.
  • Ability to mentor student-athletes and promote character development.
  • Familiarity with strength and conditioning principles for baseball athletes.
  • Experience organizing youth camps, offseason workouts, and community engagement activities.
