As the Lead Full-Stack Software Engineer, you'll help shape solutions from the first customer conversation through delivery. The work is hands-on and highly collaborative, with real opportunities to shape products, influence technical direction, and solve problems that matter on scale.
You'll help set technical direction, guide design decisions with customers, product partners, architects, and engineers. You'll sit at the intersection of our customers, product teams, and engineering organization, and work directly with retail clients translating those conversations into practical technical solutions. You'll also help connect the dots across teams, ensuring the technology we build today sets us up well for what comes next!
What You Will Do
Resolves complex technical problems across multiple applications and layers of the stack to drive improvements across products and portfolios; leads projects with significant business impact and contributes to planning, prioritization, and estimation.
Leads the development of integrated business and enterprise applications across frontend, backend, APIs, data, and supporting services, ensuring solutions are resilient, scalable, maintainable, and aligned with architectural standards.
Builds awareness and alignment around enterprise-recommended frameworks, tools, technologies, engineering platforms, and architectural design practices across the full application stack.
Drives operational excellence through disaster recovery and capacity planning, performance, regression and chaos testing, observability, alerts and dashboards, reliability practices, and recovery runbooks.
Breaks down complex technical and business problems into straightforward, practical solutions that can evolve as needs change.
Continuously evaluates and recommends new software components, frameworks, tools, and technologies that can improve application development and delivery.
Continuously drive solutions, streamline development and operational processes, remove bottlenecks, and resolve escalated technical issues.
Guide engineers through complex technical challenges, raise the bar through thoughtful code and architecture reviews. Mentor engineers, establish practical engineering standards, and improve development and delivery practices.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems (CIS), or related field or equivalent years of experience in lieu of education requirement, if applicable
7 years of experience in software development or related field
6 years of experience in any of the following: software engineering competencies frontend technologies (UI/UX), middleware (microservices and APIs), database technologies, DevOps
6 years of experience working on project(s) involving the implementation of solutions applying development lifecycles through iterative agile development
Preferred Skills/Education
Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems (CIS), Software Engineering, or a related field.
6+ years of software engineering experience designing, building, and supporting complex enterprise or customer-facing applications, ideally within retail, commerce, or another high-scale environment.
Strong backend development experience with Go/Golang preferred, or significant experience with Python, Java
Strong experience building modern frontend applications using technologies such as React, Next.js, and TypeScript, along with experience integrating frontend experiences with APIs and backend services.
Experience designing and developing backend services, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems using languages and frameworks such as Go, Python, Java, or Node.js.
6+ years of experience translating business needs into technical requirements, solution designs, and scalable application architectures.
6+ years of experience working across multiple areas of the technology stack, including frontend development, APIs and middleware, databases, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and CI/CD.
Experience building and operating software in cloud-based environments, including automated testing, deployment pipelines, observability, incident management, and production support.
4+ years of experience providing technical leadership to engineering teams, with or without direct reports, including leading design discussions, reviewing architecture and code, mentoring engineers, and guiding teams through complex technical decisions.
Experience working in a retail technology environment and building solutions that support the scale, reliability, performance, and integration needs of enterprise retail systems.
Demonstrated ability to work directly with customers, product teams, architects, and engineers to understand complex business problems, evaluate technical tradeoffs, and guide solutions from design through delivery.
