Job description

Overview

The Nurse Education Specialist functions in a point-of-care, hands-on role as a nurse expert, educator, and consultant for assigned departments in the clinical development and education of nursing and other NAH team members. This position provides educational support for organizational safety and improvement initiatives. Nurse Education Specialist works in partnership with leadership to support onboarding, staff development, and promotion of practice excellence. The Nurse Education Specialist also functions to aid in preparation for regulatory and accreditation reviews.


Responsibilities

* Demonstrates and maintains depth and breadth of knowledge, skills, and competence in nursing specialty
* Serves as a consultant for education requests within NAH
* Researches, recommends, and facilitates nursing specialty education for nurse residents, nurse interns, and/or any other program for new to specialty nurses
* Analyzes and validates educational needs and competencies
* Develops and initiates training programs that facilitate achievement of clinical care competency goals
* Participates in the development of standards of practice using the most current evidence
* Implements nursing education processes that enhance knowledge, skills, and attitudes for safe, competent, and effective nursing practice
* Evaluates practice in relation to standards, guidelines, statutes, rules, and regulations to achieve professional goals
* Utilizes experience and professional judgment to problem solve, plan, and accomplish goals
* Performs other related duties as assigned
* Completes mandatory training requirements
* Meets various age-specific needs

* Utilizes the educational design process to bridge the knowledge, skills, and/or practice gaps identified through a needs assessment

* Influences the interprofessional practice and learning environments, the profession of nursing, and healthcare

* Promotes the generation and dissemination of new knowledge and the use of evidence to advance Nurse Professional Development, practice, guide clinical practice, and improve patient care
Partner for Practice Transitions
* Supports the transition of nurses and other healthcare team members across learning and practice environments, roles, and professional stages
Compliance/Safety
* Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employees area of responsibility.
* If required for position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.
* Completes all company mandatory modules and required job specific training in the specified time frame.
* Responsible for reporting any safety related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.

Qualifications

Education
  • Graduate degree or completion date within 3 years if hired after August 1st 2024 (If graduate degree is not in nursing, it must be in a related field and a
    BSN is required)
  • BSN within 3 years if hired prior to August 1st 2024 to be completed by July 1st 2027
    BSN not required if you have a MSN
Certification & Licensures
  • Current RN License
  • National nurse professional board certification or attainment within 1 year of hire
Experience
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in clinical nursing practice required
