Job description

Your Impact
As an intern on the Axon Electrical Engineering team, you will gain hands-on experience alongside senior engineers and mentors. You'll contribute to the design, development, testing, and debugging of cutting-edge electronic circuits that power Axon's products.
Your academic knowledge and engineering curiosity will be put into practice in real-world applications-from prototyping through validation. You'll also collaborate with mechanical and software engineers to help bring world-class products to market.

What You'll Do
  • Support the TASER electrical engineering team in designing, developing, testing, debugging, and building new products throughout the development cycle.
  • Collaborate with peers and senior engineers to deliver robust electronic designs.
  • Develop and execute test plans, define test methods, and validate designs.
  • Bring up, characterize, and debug systems and circuits using lab tools (oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, power supplies, hi-pot testers, etc.).
  • Evaluate and document design outcomes and test results; present findings to design teams for review.
  • Review product design requirements in relation to system objectives.
  • Participate in schematic design of embedded mixed-signal circuits (OrCAD), integrating power supplies, microcontrollers, lighting and display drivers, memory (FLASH/EEPROM), regulators, batteries, high/low-speed interfaces (USB, UART, SPI, I C), RF transceivers, sensors, and analog/digital components.
  • Contribute to PCB design implementations and inspections using Allegro layout tools.
  • Engage in design reviews and inspections, offering constructive feedback while learning key design principles.
  • Assess circuit performance and verify compliance with product and regulatory requirements.

What You Bring
  • College senior majoring in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • Strong academic performance with a solid engineering foundation.
  • Ability to apply classroom knowledge to real-world problems through labs, internships, or projects.
  • Knowledge of discrete analog and digital components (RLCs, transistors, diodes, LEDs, voltage regulators, microcontrollers, etc.).
  • Experience designing or integrating circuits in one or more areas:
  • Hands-on bench experience with oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, etc.
  • Ability to read and analyze component datasheets and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency with documentation and presentation tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing embedded hardware systems (capstone, internship, or equivalent) in a cross-functional team (EE/FW/ME).
  • Schematic design experience using Cadence/OrCAD Capture or similar tools.
  • Understanding of common power supply topologies (buck, boost, buck-boost, LDOs) and their trade-offs.
  • Soldering experience for PCB population or component replacement during troubleshooting.

Work Location
This role is based out of our Scottsdale, AZ office and follows a hybrid schedule. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Tuesdays through Fridays, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays, unless there is an approved workplace accommodation. The starting hourly pay for this role is USD $35. The actual hourly pay is dependent upon many factors such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
