Job description

Job Summary:
AssetMark is a global enterprise SaaS company providing sophisticated financial planning software. They are seeking two Junior AWS Operations Engineers to help operate and maintain production AWS environments, focusing on automation and infrastructure management.
Responsibilities:
• Help operate and maintain production AWS environments used by real customers
• Write and maintain automation and infrastructure code stored and reviewed in Git
• Contribute to our Infrastructure as Code stack (primarily AWS CloudFormation)
• Build and improve deployment and operational tooling using Jenkins, Python, and Bash
• Work extensively in Linux environments running Java-based applications
• Debug and improve automation when things don’t behave as expected
• Assist with maintenance activities such as AMI updates, DR testing, and environment upgrades
• Collaborate with senior engineers to improve reliability, security, and scalability
• Learn how to safely operate in security-sensitive, audited production environments
• Own small operational projects end-to-end
• Write tooling that other engineers rely on
• Troubleshoot real production issues using logs, metrics, and code
• Participate in an on-call rotation (only after training and ramp-up)
Qualifications:
Required:
• 0–3 years of experience in a technical role (Ops, DevOps, SRE, Systems, or similar)
• Comfortable writing real scripts or programs, not just small one-liners
• Ability to reason about code, debug failures, and improve existing automation
• Experience working in Linux environments
• Familiarity with Git-based workflows (branching, pull requests, code reviews)
• Some exposure to AWS (coursework, labs, internships, or real environments)
• Strong curiosity and willingness to learn complex systems
• Clear communication and comfort asking questions
• A sense of responsibility when working on systems that affect customers
Preferred:
• Prior experience with Infrastructure as Code
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Coursework or hands-on work with distributed systems, networking, or security
• Familiarity with Java-based web applications
• Prior AWS certification
