Job Description

Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking a web developer intern to join our Analytics Web Systems team this summer. Responsibilities include developing, maintaining, and supporting software applications for new and existing systems. The position requires the person to:

  • Design, develop, test, analyze, and maintain software programs and applications
  • Effectively communicate with business users, team members, and management
  • Design and implement robust, flexible, easily maintainable solutions to problems
  • Identify and present opportunities for process improvement

This internship has full-time hours (Monday through Friday) and is in person in Lansing, Michigan. Interns choose their start and end dates. Most join in mid-May and stay until mid-August.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Students must be working toward a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, and have at least two years of coursework completed.
  • An understanding of object oriented and/or functional design paradigms and best practices
  • High aptitude for logical thinking and pattern recognition
  • Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and practices to overcome existing challenges
  • Ability to adapt to constant change and innovation
  • Understanding of Web technologies based on HTML, CSS, and JavaScript such as Angular
