Job Summary and Qualifications

The Intermediate Care RN Registered Nurse (PCU) coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care. In collaboration with medical providers, the RN provides pre-operative and post-operative nursing care. The RN serves as an advocate for patients to support an unparalleled patient experience.

We are seeking a highly-skilled and energetic RN to deliver quality and compassionate nursing care while collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team in our critical care step-down unit. In this role you will provide direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with acute and/or chronic diagnoses. This team serves cardiology and medical/surgical patients who may require telemetry or bedside monitoring. What you will do in this role:

  • As a registered nurse you will deliver patient-centered nursing care and participate in patient and family education.
  • On the critical care stepdown unit you will monitor heart rhythms, titrate select drips, and utilize critical thinking to manage your patient
  • Working with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, providers and patient care staff, you will create and implement a care plan to meet each patient’s needs.
  • Utilizing computerized documentation systems, you will monitor, record and communicate patient conditions as appropriate.
  • As a part of the clinical team in the critical care step-down unit, you will coordinate patient discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
  • When dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers and other customers, you will maintain cultural awareness, and much more.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
  • Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Current Multistate Compact License.
  • 1 year of medical surgical nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
  • Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) Certification.
