Job description

Position Job Type:  Seasonal - This position is for the school calendar year beginning in mid August 2026 and ending in late May 2027. Additional opportunities are available for staff in good standing.
Program Hours: Monday Friday from 6:45 am 8:30 am AND 3:00 6:00 pm from mid-August to early June. 

Minimum Age Requirement:  18 years old
Pay Range:    $17.00 - $18.00/hr. depending on experience

Job Summary:  

The Club Rec Assistant Site Supervisor is responsible for assisting with the development of weekly lesson plans and leading and/or supervising a variety of age-appropriate daily activities while maintaining a fun and safe environment for participants. The Before & After School program takes place in local schools for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Activities may include games, assistance with homework, arts and crafts, outdoor activities, etc.  Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating respect, responsibility and enthusiasm. Previous experience and a desire to interact with school-age children is required with the capacity to provide quality customer service. Ability to communicate effectively with both children and adults while working collaboratively with co-workers and supervisors is essential. Capacity to respond calmly and appropriately to behavioral challenges and emergencies. Additional duties may include room/activity set up and breakdown, student check-in and check-out, administering first-aid, cleaning, and other duties as assigned. Assistant Site Supervisors are expected to work the entire school calendar year as well as early dismissal days, school days off and seasonal camps as available. Must commit to the entire season and attend mandatory orientation, training and staff meetings. This is an at-will position.  

Qualifications and Training Expectations:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required with college coursework or a degree from an accredited college or university in education, recreation or a related field preferred.
  • Reliable, outgoing and friendly personality with the with a desire to serve, engage and educate children.
  • Previous experience working with children is required.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team atmosphere promoting positive and effective working relationships with LPD and school staff, participants, and parents.
  • Capacity to be service oriented and communicate effectively with children, adults, staff and others, both verbally and in writing. Previous customer service experience is a plus.
  • Effective problem-solving skills with a strong sense of safety and the ability to assess situations, prioritize tasks, and act calmly and effectively under pressure in difficult or emergency situations.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with general direction from management.
  • Ability to maintain discretion with regard to confidential matters and/or information.
  • Proficient in MS Outlook or other email system for communication, Google drive, and the capacity to learn and utilize other applications for scheduling, time keeping, etc.
  • Ability to maintain organized records, logs, and reports.
  • Capacity to represent the Lombard Park District in a dependable and professional manner.
  • Have or become certified in CPR/AED/First Aid within one month of hire.
  • Required to obtain and maintain Mandated Reporter Training, Sexual Harassment & Abuse Prevention Training as well as safety training as required.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
