Job Summary:

Red Rocks Community College seeks a creative, strategic, and hands-on Digital Media Manager to help tell the College’s story across social media, video, photography, and digital platforms. This position plays a key role in building RRCC’s multimedia presence by producing engaging content that supports recruitment, student engagement, institutional communications, campus events, and community connection.

The Digital Media Manager oversees and supports the College’s social media, videography, photography, digital content, multimedia production, and related accessibility practices. This position plans, shoots, edits, organizes, and publishes multimedia content for social media, web, recruitment, campaigns, internal communications, and institutional storytelling. The role also maintains content calendars, develops reusable templates and workflows, manages visual asset libraries, tracks engagement and performance metrics, and recommends content improvements based on audience needs, platform trends, and College priorities.

This position serves as a subject matter expert within areas of oversight and provides consultation to college employees and stakeholders on content needs, campaign planning, visual storytelling, platform expectations, brand alignment, and accessible multimedia practices. The Digital Media Manager helps ensure multimedia content reflects RRCC’s brand standards, communication protocols, and current accessibility expectations, including captioning, alt text, plain-language copy, and other accessible digital content practices. The role may also provide leadership, work direction, training, coordination, or supervision to hourly employees, student hourly employees, vendors, contractors, or other project-based contributors supporting multimedia and digital content work.

This position typically works Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, this position regularly requires participation in campus events and activities outside of standard business hours, including evenings and occasional weekends, to support campus events, social media coverage, photography, videography, multimedia production, campaign needs, and other College communication priorities. A flexible work schedule will be utilized to accommodate these operational needs.

A successful candidate brings strong multimedia storytelling skills, excels at managing competing priorities, and is at ease with the following:

  • Creating engaging video, photography, social media, and digital content that supports brand, recruitment, engagement, and institutional storytelling goals.
  • Managing content calendars, production workflows, asset libraries, accessibility practices, and platform-specific content needs with strong organization and attention to detail.
  • Consulting with employees and stakeholders, translating ideas into effective digital content, and providing recommendations that support campaign goals, audience engagement, brand consistency, and accessible communication.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong visual storytelling instincts and the ability to translate strategic direction into compelling multimedia content.
  • Working knowledge of accessible design principles and current accessibility law and standards.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage concurrent productions and platform calendars.
  • Excellent written communication, particularly for social media platforms and captions.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse subjects, audiences, and colleagues. Cultural humility and a student-centered orientation.
  • Comfort working independently within a strategic framework set by the Director. Adaptability to fast-changing digital platforms and content formats.
  • Commitment to inclusive and representative content across all multimedia output.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in multimedia, communications, journalism, marketing, digital media, or related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Two years of professional experience producing video and photography for an organization, business, agency, or institution.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated proficiency with photo editing software (Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience managing organizational social media accounts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in multimedia, communications, marketing, journalism, or related field.
  • Experience in higher education marketing, particularly at a community college or open-access institution.
  • Familiarity with social media management platforms (Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Later, or similar).
  • Experience producing accessible video content, including captions and audio descriptions.
  • Working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards.
  • Familiarity with the Adobe Creative Cloud suite end-to-end.
  • Experience with motion graphics or animation.
  • Portfolio demonstrating storytelling sensibility across multiple multimedia formats.

Physical & Cognitive Demands

The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.

  • Occasionally moves, positions, transports, sets up, and takes down standard office, event, and production materials, including cameras, lighting, audio equipment, tripods, signage, and related items weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • This position is primarily office-based, with regular work in campus event and field production environments. The role routinely uses computers, standard office equipment, cameras, lighting and audio equipment, editing software, digital asset management systems, social media platforms, and related tools, and may require periods of standing, walking, bending, positioning equipment, moving between event spaces, and providing on-site multimedia support.
  • The person in this position regularly communicates with students, employees, vendors, community partners, and other internal and external constituents and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, troubleshooting, monitoring live event and social media needs, applying accessibility standards, managing multiple deadlines, exercising sound judgment, and using interpersonal skills.
  • May require occasional evening and weekend hours, work at both campuses, local travel between campuses, and travel to community locations for assigned event, recruitment, photo, video, or storytelling needs.

Starting Salary

Starting salary range for this position is $73,242 to $80,566 annually, commensurate with education and experience. This is a full-time, FLSA-exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
