Job description

TITLE: IT Specialist II

 

POSITION OBJECTIVE: This position exists to provide daily technical support and assist with maintaining stable, secure, and efficient IT and cybersecurity operations for corporate and affiliate locations.  The role supports end users, infrastructure improvements, cloud services, cybersecurity initiatives, and ongoing IT projects to help ensure business continuity and operational efficiency.  The IT Specialist II provides frontline technical support and assists with the administration of IT systems, infrastructure, and cybersecurity initiatives. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career IT professional with internship, or hands-on technical support experience.  The position supports end users, cloud services, networking, automation initiatives, and security best practices while developing broader enterprise IT skills.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity, or related field preferred
  • 0–3 years of IT experience, including internships, campus IT support, or related hands-on experience
  • Basic understanding of Windows operating systems, networking concepts, Microsoft 365, and cloud technologies
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Entra ID, Intune, or Azure preferred
  • Exposure to scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python is a plus
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a team environment
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary
  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

End-User Support

  • Provide technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, phones, VPN, and Microsoft 365 applications
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and user access issues
  • Assist with onboarding/offboarding and account administration
  • Provide technical training and documentation to end users
  • Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff as needed

Infrastructure & Cloud

  • Assist in administering Active Directory, Entra ID, and Intune for user and device management
  • Support Azure infrastructure, cloud services, and DevOps-related activities
  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining network infrastructure including routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Support server maintenance activities including updates, backups, and disaster recovery tasks
  • Participate in infrastructure and network improvement projects
  • Coordinate with IT vendors and internal teams when necessary

Cybersecurity

  • Assist with IT security monitoring, phishing prevention, MFA enforcement, and endpoint protection
  • Support implementation of security policies and compliance initiatives
  • Participate in cybersecurity awareness and IT security best practices

Automation & AI

  • Assist in developing automation scripts for IT operations and reporting
  • Support AI-related initiatives including evaluation and implementation of generative AI platforms
  • Participate in workflow improvement initiatives utilizing automation and AI technologies

General

  • Maintain IT asset inventory and technical documentation
  • Provide occasional after-hours support for maintenance or critical issues
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies in the IT field
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

 

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:

  • Ability to lift and move IT equipment when needed
