Location: St. Vincent de Paul, Indianapolis

Position Type: Unpaid/Volunteer Internship

Duration: Varies based on academic requirements and internship expectations. Internships can last a minimum of 20 hours or up to 1 semester.

About Us: St. Vincent de Paul-Indianapolis (SVdP Indy) serves the most vulnerable in our community. On a daily basis, we provide for the most basic of human needs: food, clothing, diapers, beds and more. We dedicate ourselves to providing neighbors with a pathway out of poverty—one rooted in love, support and skills training in order to build a sustainable future. We do that through our Changing Lives Forever program and our Love Your Neighbor Center. Whether we’re meeting day-to-day needs or helping people realize a brighter future, we strive to love our neighbors in a way that’s dignified and respectful.

Why choose St. Vincent de Paul - Indy for an internship?

• Hands-on Experience: Interns will engage in direct client services, case management, community outreach, and program development, gaining real-world skills that align with their academic training.

• Diverse Learning Environment: Our organization serves individuals and families from varied socioeconomic backgrounds.

• Professional Mentorship: Our experienced team is passionate about mentoring and supporting interns, ensuring they meet their educational and professional goals.

• Impactful Work: Students will contribute to programs addressing homelessness, food insecurity, and other critical challenges, making a tangible difference in our community.

• Broad Spectrum of Opportunity: Our vast programming allows for ample professional opportunities to serve our community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with organizing and executing programs.

• Provide support in administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and managing communications.

• Participate in outreach activities to raise awareness about our mission and services.

• Collaborate with staff and other volunteers to ensure the smooth operation of daily activities.

• Help with fundraising efforts, including planning and coordinating events.

• Engage with community members and provide excellent customer service.

Qualifications:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Passion for community service and making a positive impact.

• Reliable, punctual, and committed to completing assigned tasks.

• Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, email).
