Job Responsibilities
  • Independently manages project engineering functions, including RFIs, submittals, procurement, document control, closeout, and project logs.
  • Coordinates written and verbal communication with owners, architects, design teams, subcontractors, field teams, and internal project team members.
  • Manages the RFI process to ensure RFIs are clear, accurate, timely, properly distributed, and resolved in support of the project schedule.
  • Leads the submittal process, including reviewing submittals, maintaining logs, tracking action items, and coordinating follow‑up with subcontractors and design teams.
  • Proactively manages procurement tracking, long‑lead items, material deliveries, and related schedule impacts.
  • Identifies, documents, tracks, and communicates cost or schedule impacts related to RFIs, submittals, procurement, and subcontractor changes.
  • Supports project teams with change management, including subcontractor pricing, backup documentation, change logs, and change order coordination.
  • Supports project schedule updates, short‑term planning, and coordination with the Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Leads or supports project closeout, including punch list tracking, closeout documentation, warranties, O&M manuals, and final turnover requirements.
  • Participates in QA/QC processes, field coordination, documentation, and follow‑up to help ensure work aligns with drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Provides technical support to project leaders and field teams to help resolve issues and maintain continuity of work.
  • Builds and maintains positive working relationships with owners, design teams, subcontractors, self‑perform teams, and internal team members.
  • Mentors, coaches, and supports the development of Project Engineers, interns, and other team members.
  • Helps establish expectations, provide feedback, and support accountability for project engineering responsibilities.
  • Other duties may be assigned at any time.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of commercial construction or project engineering experience required.
  • Strong understanding of RFIs, submittals, procurement, document control, change management, scheduling, QA/QC, and closeout processes.
  • Experience supporting or coordinating subcontractors, design teams, owners, and field teams on commercial construction projects.
  • Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft 365, and other construction management software required.
  • Experience with Revit, Navisworks, scheduling software, financial systems, or related construction technology preferred.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and project documents.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify risks, evaluate options, and escalate issues when appropriate.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage individual time effectively while supporting, coaching, and following up with Project Engineers and interns.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in both office and active construction jobsite environments.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, and navigate uneven terrain during jobsite walks.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment when on jobsites.
  • Ability to use a computer, phone, and standard office equipment for extended periods of time.
  • May be exposed to typical construction site conditions, including noise, dust, weather, equipment, and varying temperatures.
