Job description

Internet Sales Consultant — Kuhn Volkswagen
The customer is already shopping. Your job is to be the first person who actually answers.

Most car buyers now do 80% of their shopping before they ever set foot on a lot. They submit a request, and then they wait — sometimes hours — for someone to get back to them. The dealer who responds first and responds like a human usually wins the deal.

That's this job.

Kuhn Volkswagen has been in South Tampa for over 20 years. We're the #1 volume Volkswagen dealer in Central Florida and currently tracking in the top 20 VW stores nationally. We generate more online leads than we can properly work, which is exactly why this seat is open. You won't be cold-calling strangers or hunting for opportunity — the opportunity is already in the CRM waiting on you.

What you'll earn

Base salary plus commission — a real paycheck while you learn, with genuine upside once your appointment count climbs.

  • $350–$550+ per vehicle sold. Your per-car rate increases with your monthly volume, so your 15th unit pays more than your 5th.
  • Volume bonuses on top of your flat and VW pays you for each new car sale.
  • Signing bonus available for experienced hires with a verifiable track record.
  • Paid training or guaranteed pay for your first 90 days while you learn the product and the process.
  • Our internet team averaged $80,000 last year; top performers cleared $130,000.

What the job actually looks like
  • Speed to lead. New inquiry hits the CRM, you're on it in minutes — call, text, and email, in that order, until you make contact. This is the single metric that drives everything else.
  • Set appointments that show. Anyone can book an appointment. You'll confirm it, prep the customer, know what vehicle they're coming to see, and have it pulled up front and ready.
  • Sell in writing and on the phone. Most of your relationship happens over text and email before you ever shake a hand. You'll need to build trust in three sentences.
  • Shoot personalized walkaround videos. A 60-second video of the actual car with the customer's name in it converts dramatically better than a stock photo and a price. We'll show you how.
  • Own the customer end to end. You greet them, demo the car, and work the deal with your manager — you're not just a lead-setter handing off your paycheck to someone else.
  • Know the product cold. VW packs a lot of technology into these cars. You'll learn it and explain it in plain English, in person and over the phone.
  • Run a disciplined CRM. Every call logged, every note usable by the next person who reads it, every follow-up scheduled. Nobody falls through the cracks on your watch.
  • Work the long tail. Plenty of internet buyers aren't ready for 60 days. The consultants who follow up at day 30, 60, and 90 are the ones with the big months.
  • Live The Kuhn Code. Our customer experience standard — you'll learn it, and you'll be held to it.

What we're looking for
  • You write well. Clear, warm, correctly spelled, no wall of text. This matters more here than in any other sales job in the building.
  • You're comfortable on the phone. You'll make a lot of calls, and you don't take it personally when someone doesn't pick up.
  • You're comfortable on camera for short walkaround videos — or willing to get comfortable fast.
  • You're organized under volume. Dozens of active customers at different stages, and you know exactly where each one stands.
  • You have real urgency. Five minutes matters here in a way it doesn't on the showroom floor.
  • Comfortable with performance-based pay and motivated by it
  • Valid Florida driver's license and an insurable driving record
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Automotive experience preferred but not required. This role translates well from inside sales, call centers, hotel and restaurant reservations, e-commerce customer service, wireless and phone sales, insurance, and the military. If you've been good at winning people over through a screen, we can teach you cars.

Benefits
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Life, disability, and accident coverage
  • 401(k) retirement savings
  • Paid vacation
  • Employee pricing on vehicle purchases and service
  • Manufacturer and in-house training, paid for by us
  • A clear promotion track — internet sales is the fastest path into management here, because you learn volume, process, and CRM discipline all at once
