Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Daily air and ocean shipment tracking and system updates
  • Customer correspondence with shipment status reports
  • Understand carrier and partner strengths and weaknesses as well as customer requirements.
  • Recognize shipment deadlines and communicate to carriers and partners to ensure delivery requirements are met.
  • Work within the team to both educate and learn how to improve performance, carrier and partners selection and promote positive cultures.
  • Understand and communicate with customers in regards to shipping requirements and procedures.
  • Demonstrate trouble shooting and problem-solving skills to resolve service failures and other dilemmas that arise during shipping.
  • POD/charge collection and entry in order to close files for billing.
  • Prep files for invoice processing.
  • Assist with shipment set-up, dispatch, bookings and document processing when required.
  • Intelligently communicate with customers and sales team members to provide timely acknowledgement and updates, educated responses and friendly customer service for every shipment.

Qualification/Requirements/Certifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of import/export experience with a Freight Forwarder preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of specialized documentation including Letters of Credit, ITAR processing, EEI filing, etc.
  • Technical experience with Microsoft Office software
  • CargoWise-based applications experience a plus but not required
  • Documented industry certifications (ex. Dangerous Goods Certified) are a plus but not required
