About the role
Job Description
The Auxiliary Engineer supports the safe and efficient operation of plant systems and equipment under the general supervision of the Shift Supervisor and direction of the Control Room Operator. Responsibilities include monitoring, inspecting, and operating equipment such as fans, pumps, the baghouse, and the wastewater treatment system, in accordance with established plant procedures.
Key duties include:
  • Performing regular equipment inspections and data logging
  • Reporting abnormalities or potential issues and responding to them as directed
  • Taking independent action when necessary to protect equipment and ensure personnel safety
  • Supporting emergency operations when needed
  • The Auxiliary Engineer may also be assigned to operate the refuse crane, responsible for mixing waste in the pit and maintaining proper feed levels in boiler hoppers.

Qualifications:
  • Prior experience operating heavy industrial machinery or strong mechanical aptitude
  • Formal technical or apprenticeship training preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to read and interpret operational, safety, and training materials
  • Physically capable of working in an industrial environment (mobility, vision, hearing)
  • Must be able to respond appropriately in emergency situations

This is a hands-on role in a dynamic environment that requires attentiveness, reliability, and a strong commitment to safety.

The hourly rate for this position is $32.48 per hour.
