We transfer the warmth needed to make life work.The RoleThe Application Specialist/Engineer will be responsible for Engineered Products sales activities related to triaging and prioritizing incoming RFQ, conceptualization, sizing, costing, and proposal generation of industrial process heating and related equipment. Ideal candidate will have a focus in mechanical engineering, with experiences in process and electrical engineering systems or have the capability and desire to self-train in a fast paceenvironment.Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities• Review of specifications and documents from request for quotations (RFQ's) of engineered systems involving electric heating, and process systems.• Develop conceptual design of engineered products and systems pertaining to RFQs.• Develop cost estimates and prepare proposals based upon conceptual design of engineered systems and/or applications pertaining to RFQs.• Evaluate processes and designs for proposed modifications, improvements, and alternate solutions as required by clients or internal departments.• Meetings with clients for technical clarifications and/or presentations pertaining to RFQs, current projects, or general Thermon product offerings.• Interface with other departments within the organization such as Engineering, Purchasing, and Operations to conceptualize designs and establish realistic delivery expectations when preparing proposals.Key Characteristics, Competences and Skills• Excellent communication and negotiations skills, both written and verbal, especially technical content• Strong problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.• Strong ability to mange one's own time, planning and organizing several requests simultaneously• Work effectively in a team environment, providing input and feedback in a helpful and constructive manner.• Self-motivated, flexible, proactive, and committed.• Good knowledge of standard manufacturing processes.• Ability to identify potential problems and resolve problems diplomatically.• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).• Ability to give effective presentations to general or specific audiences, internal and external,and write convincing proposals and reports.• An appreciation of wider business demands.Knowledge and Experience• University degree at bachelor's level as a minimum. Mechanical Engineering degree or relevant experience.• 5+ years of experience in industrial process industry. Oil and gas, petrochemical, or power generation is desired.• Working knowledge with ASME BPVC is necessary. Experience with one or more electrical product/equipment certification such as UL, CSA, IEC, and ATEX is desired.
