International Systems Management Corp. (ISM) is seeking a qualified individual for a Journey/Senior-Level Systems Engineer, providing engineering support to the US Navy. The selected individual will provide subject matter expertise of US Navy weapons control systems and components with surface and subsurface platforms.


Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in an Engineering, Math or Science Discipline with at least five (5) years of professional experience. Additional required experience: proficiency with Microsoft Office Products; strong communication skills (oral and written); and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.


Required experience includes:

  • Mission planning and/or strike experience with Tomahawk, Cruise Missile Support Activity (CMSA), or Missile Defense Agency (MDA)
  • Designing studies and evaluations associated with research, development, production and operations
  • Reviewing and providing feedback to the program office on technical documentation submissions from work performers, as needed.
  • Providing the program engineering and technical support and advisement regarding problem definition, analysis, requirement development and implementation for complex systems in the engineering discipline required to meet technical requirements.
  • Providing assessments and recommendations on system development, improvements, optimization, and support efforts.
  • Identifying risks and developing mitigation plans for identified cost, schedule, and technical issues.
  • Supporting the identification, tracking, and resolution of systems engineering issues related to technical interfaces, technology insertion/design improvements, and other program initiatives.
  • Preparing technical presentations, briefings, and papers to address program management issues in such venues as technical design reviews, technical review boards, and others.
  • Collaborating, coordinating, and acting as the program office liaison, when required, with program office stakeholders.
  • Supporting all configuration management planning, including change control management, configuration status accounting, and configuration auditing.

Desired experience includes:

  • Experience with Electrical and Mechanical Design, Navigation, Guidance, and Control, Telemetry and Instrumentation, Flight Software, Re-entry Hardware, and Flight Termination Systems, Requirement Definition, Allocation, and Verification, Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Interfaces.
  • Experience with any of the following: Computational Fluid Dynamics especially for aerodynamic high-speed flows, Finite Element Analysis and solid mechanics, Fluid Structure Interaction, Flight dynamics and trajectory calculations (formulated in six degrees of freedom ("6DoF"), Ballistics, Penetration mechanics, Combustion and Thermodynamics
  • Experience with technical data packages.
  • Experience with Configuration Management practices, including Physical/Functional Configuration audits, Data Management, and CM tools. Familiar with EIA-649 Configuration Management standards and practices.
  • Experience providing recommendations for defense system procedures considering system capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results.
  • Experience conducting assessments and making recommendations for program design, testing, and documentation utilizing all phases of research application, analysis, and programming and research analysis techniques.
  • Experience with information assurance (IA) including identification of security risks, threats, and vulnerabilities.
  • Experience developing, reviewing, and/or implementing requirements and specifications for complex systems
  • Experience with risk management processes and procedures, including performing risk assessments and analysis employing modeling and simulation techniques.
  • Experience with or detailed knowledge of USN Command and Control Systems, and their interaction with various USN Sensor and Weapon systems.
  • Experience developing, reviewing, and/or implementing requirements and specifications for complex systems.
  • ­Experience with USN combat system baseline management and certification.

The ideal candidate is dynamic and proactive in meeting customer needs and has the ability to prioritize tasks and coordinate activities across numerous organizations. The position will be located in Washington, DC and will require travel approximately 20% of the time. Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
