Job description

This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Qualifications:FOR THE GS-13:Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Experience participating in the processing of (defined as the application of algorithms to improve the quality of, or extract relevant parameters from. raw data) and analysis of (defined as the application of algorithms in order to extract relevant information from processed data) data in support of the mission area.
  • Experience applying professional knowledge of mathematical concepts, theories, principles, and practices applicable to the design construction, analysis, and maintenance of precise time and time interval systems.
  • Experience writing and presenting scientific end technical material to audiences ranging from USNO staff to governmmental or international experts; creating standard operating procedures; documenting software; and documenting the requirements and design review of projects
FOR THE GS-12:Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Experience applying professional knowledge of mathematical concepts, theories, principles, and practices applicable to the design construction, analysis, and maintenance of precise time and time interval systems.
  • Experience writing and presenting scientific end technical material to audiences and creating standard operating procedures; documenting software; and documenting the requirements and design review of projects

In addition to the specialized experience, this position has Basic Requirements:

A.Degree: mathematics; or the equivalent of a major that included at least 24 semester hours in mathematics.

or

B.Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in mathematics (including at least 24 semester hours in mathematics), as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
The total course work in either A or B above must have included differential and integral calculus and, in addition, four advanced mathematics courses requiring calculus or equivalent mathematics courses as a prerequisite.
