Job description

Position Overview:


Liverpool based company, an industry leader in Supply Chain Management, is seeking to fill a Dispatcher position at its Liverpool, NY location.  The successful candidate for this role is a self-motivated, extremely detail oriented, team player, capable of managing a high volume of dispatching. 

Essential Responsibilities:
A Dispatcher will possess the ability to handle and manage dispatching for air, sea and land.  This includes organizing freight pickup and delivery for imported goods to assigned locations for on time delivery by coordinating with trucking companies and updating our customers on delivery status as needed.


  • Provide daily shipment management, tracking and ensuring on-time shipments from pick up through delivery.
  • Assist emergency shipping requests by fulfilling expedited requirements according to various guidelines.
  • Providing excellent customer service to clients, handling a high-volume number of inbound and outbound transportation requests by phone and email.
  • Calculate dimensions for proper shipping modes.
  • Identify cost savings through creative solutions.


Required Qualifications:


Education

  • Associate’s degree in Logistics, Supply chain, Transportation, or other equivalent


Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year as a dispatcher in a logistics, or freight forwarder organization.


Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of International shipments – Airlines, CFS Warehouses, Terminals.
  • Understands the documents required for each kind of international dispatch - Air, LCL and FCL.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail in data entry, record keeping, and scheduling tasks.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high levels of customer service through clear internal communication.
  • Flexible work schedule for after hour follow-ups.       
  • Excellent communication skills (presentation, written and verbal).
  • Expert Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools – Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
  •  Exceptional problem solving skills, and creative solutions development and execution.
