Job description

About this Job The International Student Office Coordinator reports to the Assistant Dean for International Students supporting the staff and mission of the university International Student Office. The role requires an organized, detail-oriented, and proactive individual to support and to contribute to the internationalization efforts of the University. This role involves comprehensive support for international students through application and immigration processes as well as providing advice to faculty and students, developing marketing and program promotion collateral, and coordinating events and recruitment activities.

This summary is not intended to be a comprehensive or all-inclusive description of duties and responsibilities. Minimum Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university. LSUS values skills, experience and expertise.

Candidates who have relevant experience in key job responsibilities are encouraged to apply - a master's degree is not required if the candidate meets the required years of experience specified in the job description. Recent experience in higher education or in an education field. Experience working in a customer-focused environment.

Ability to communicate effectively, build and manage relationships with peers, managers, University stakeholders, external vendors, parents and students from a range of linguistic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Recent experience of data entry and management. US citizenship or lawful permanent residence status (required to serve as a DSO or ASO).

Preferred Qualifications: Additional professional certifications and/or advanced degree. Experience working with and mentoring international students. Experience maintaining immigration compliance.

Experience working with international education partnership development. Experience delivering training to a range of stakeholders. Essential Preferred Skills & Knowledge Knowledge of the US educational system.

Ability to work independently and within a small team, and with others in various time zones. Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Strong IT literacy, being able to use word processing, presentation, finance, spreadsheet, and database packages.

Training/certification in immigration compliance. Expertise working within admission, CRM, and enrollment platforms. Process implementation skills.

Language and translation skills. Personal Attributes Excellent customer service and team building. Highly personable and culturally sensitive.

Ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders. Attention to detail and accuracy in all work undertaken. Willingness and flexibility to work outside typical office hours, on occasions where necessary.

Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree.

Job Duties and Other Information Position Duties & Responsibilities: providing office support, including tracking application progress and supplemental materials for international applicants; developing procedures for risk mitigation, international student communications, and data collection; performing general finance and budget tasks; developing and delivering promotional materials, event planning, and communication to internal/ external stakeholders; serving as a Designated School Official (DSO) to support institutional compliance with all federal regulations related to F-1 student enrollment and supporting responses to audits and updates; acting as an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) to support institutional compliance with all federal regulations related to the J-1 exchange visitor program and supporting responses to audits and updates; liaising with administrative offices, academic advisors, and faculty to facilitate efficient communication, enrollment, fee payment, and other support as needed; developing a library of guidance and information for international students; delivering support and guidance for a peer-advisor network; maintaining international student records from enquiry to program completion; coordinating promotional events and workshops, as needed; fielding general queries from prospective students, active students, alumni, and faculty/staff; assisting with other general office duties as required. ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. stay informed and up to date with emerging best practices in higher education; engage in professional conferences, workshops, and certification opportunities to enhance skills and professional development.
