Job description

Job Description

Ready to take your career global?

Make your mark at one of the biggest names in payments. We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer - Agentic Commerce to join our ever-evolving agentic commerce engineering team and help shape the future of global commerce.

What you'll own

We are building the future of autonomous commerce. As AI agents begin to discover products, compare options, build carts, and initiate purchases on behalf of consumers, the payments layer needs new infrastructure for trust, identity, user intent, authentication, tokenization, fraud signals, and real-time transaction visibility.

As a Senior Software Engineer, Agentic Commerce, you will join a greenfield engineering squad building secure, reliable backend services that allow AI agents, merchants, payment platforms, and risk systems to work together in real time.

AI Agent Integrations

  • Design and build secure checkout and payment APIs that AI agents can invoke reliably and deterministically, including support for concepts such as UCP, ACP, AP2, agentic tokens, delegated credentials, verifiable intent, and MPP.

  • Implement flows that capture and validate agent context, user intent, delegated authority, payment credentials, risk signals, transaction evidence, and downstream reporting data.

  • Integrate agentic commerce capabilities with global payment platforms, gateways, checkout, tokenization, authentication, fraud, reporting, and merchant-facing systems.

API & SDK Development

  • Build merchant-facing APIs, SDKs, documentation, sample flows, sandbox experiences, and developer tools that make agentic commerce easier to adopt.

  • Design for clear contracts, predictable errors, strong validation, fast testing, and measurable time-to-first-transaction.

  • Use feedback from internal teams, external developers, pilots, and partner integrations to improve the platform quickly.

Backend Engineering

  • Build Java-based backend services that support real-time, high-trust payment workflows with strong performance, observability, security, and operational discipline.

  • Own features from design through implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.

  • Contribute to design reviews, code reviews, service documentation, production readiness, and a culture of high-quality engineering.

What you'll bring

  • 5+ years ofsoftware engineering experience, including building and operating production services, APIs, distributed systems, or transaction-processing applications.

  • Experience building and operating cloud-based systems on AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or comparable public cloud environments, with strong fundamentals in deployment, monitoring, reliability, and secure service design.

  • Practical interest in AI agents and agentic workflows, including how agents call APIs, pass structured data, operate within delegated permissions, and require validation before triggering real-world actions.

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals across API design, testing, CI/CD, observability, secure coding, resilience, maintainability, and production support.

  • Ability to collaborate across product, architecture, security, fraud, checkout, tokenization, gateway, and platform teams to deliver cross-system capabilities in a fast-moving, emerging product area.

It's a bonus if you have

  • Experience in payments, fintech, commerce, gateways, card-not-present processing, checkout, tokenization, 3DS/SCA, fraud/risk, disputes, merchant reporting, or other high-trust transaction systems.

  • Experience building or integrating with AI-powered applications, agent frameworks, LLM tool-calling patterns, MCP-style integrations, A2A-style workflows, structured automation systems, or safe AI execution patterns such as validation, policy checks, audit logs, fallback paths, and protection against prompt injection or tool misuse.

  • Hands-on experience with Node.js, TypeScript, SDKs, developer tooling, sandbox environments, sample apps, merchant-facing APIs, GitHub projects, open-source tools, standards discussions, AI engineering communities, or technical forums.
