Job description

Join Our Team This Summer/Fall!

Are you looking to gain meaningful, hands-on Human Resources experience while making a real impact? Hengst is seeking a motivated Human Resources Intern to join our team for a full-time summer internship (6โ€“8 weeks), with the opportunity to continue part-time (10โ€“20 hours per week) during the school year.

Working directly with HR leadership, you'll contribute to projects that shape the employee experienceโ€”from modernizing job descriptions and updating company handbooks to identifying top talent for current and future career opportunities. This is more than a typical internshipโ€”it's an opportunity to build practical HR skills, collaborate with business leaders, and leave a lasting impact on the organization.

Position Summary

The Human Resources Intern will support the HR team with projects focused on improving HR processes, recruiting, and organizational documentation. This role offers hands-on experience in talent acquisition, job design, policy development, and HR operations while working closely with HR leadership on initiatives that will have a lasting impact across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and update job descriptions to ensure consistency and alignment with business needs.
  • Assist with streamlining and modernizing employee handbooks, policies, and HR procedures.
  • Research HR best practices and recommend process improvements.
  • Source active and passive candidates for open positions using LinkedIn and other recruiting tools.
  • Support recruiting activities, including resume screening and candidate communications
  • Assist with special HR projects, reporting, and presentations.
  • Complete other related duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently.
  • Interest in recruiting, HR operations, and continuous process improvement.

What You Will Gain

  • Hands-on experience working alongside an HR leader in a growing manufacturing organization.
  • Exposure to talent acquisition, organizational development, and HR process improvement.
  • Experience updating job architecture, HR documentation, and employment branding.
  • Opportunity to contribute to projects that will have a lasting impact on the employee experience.
  • Mentorship and professional development in a corporate HR environment.

Hengst is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to creating an inclusive workplace where all employees and interns are treated with respect and dignity.
