Job description

U.S. Aggregates is seeking a self-motivated and critical thinking intern to assist in continuous improvement and operational projects and activities within our aggregate quarry sites. The Aggregates Intern will work with operations, safety, sales, and quality teams to gain experience in each area as well as complete their assigned internship project related to helping U.S. Aggregates improve operational efficiency. The position will be located at our Indianapolis corporate office or one of the plants and may be expected to travel to site locations to complete assigned work tasks.
Essential Functions

  • Review and analyze daily operational procedures, metrics, and trends at Aggregate sites to propose possible efficiencies improvements
  • Assist in conducting incident investigations including root cause analysis, coordinating execution of action items and continuous improvement activities
  • Work with Aggregates site Plant Managers and Quality Manager to review operating procedures and collect data to optimize production strategies
  • Completion of assigned project and presentation of accomplishments to the leadership team at the conclusion of internship
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company's core values, competencies, and skills.

Education Qualifications

  • High School or Equivalent Diploma required, or working towards obtaining High School Diploma


Experience Qualifications

  • 1+ years of work experience preferred

  • Advanced Computer proficiency preferred (AutoCAD, Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint)

  • This position will require the individual to work in environments with dust and noise
  • This position may require the following physical requirements: sitting or standing for long periods of time; lifting up to 50 pounds; bending to lift; crouching, kneeling, walking
