Primary Purpose of the Organization:
The Department of Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle Grades, Reading, and Special Education in the College of Education at Fayetteville State University is seeking applications for a full-time fixed term faculty position Lecturer position to begin in the Fall 2026.
Primary Purpose of the Position:
The College of Education at Fayetteville State University invites applications for a Full-Time Fixed Term Faculty position in the Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle Grades, Reading and Special Education Department. The incumbent faculty member will teach courses at the undergraduate level evaluate student learning and participate in departmental activities/committees as prescribed by the Dean, and the department Chair. The incumbent will further be expected to play an active role in the maintenance of academic standards, show evidence and knowledge of and the ability to use educational technology and tools, as well as digital, virtual, and online teaching and learning; show evidence of scholarly activity; and display a commitment to public higher education.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • A master's in education or special education, or a related Education field, licensure in Special education is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of successful teaching in the public schools or teaching in Special Education with an appropriate license is preferred.

Knowledge skills and abilities:
  • Applicants must be committed to excellent writing, research, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with an ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students across and within units. teaching and advising and to working in an environment that fosters diversity and encourage effective assessment.
  • The applicant will collaborate with colleagues within the school, university, and region; demonstrate knowledge of the Common Core Standards and instructional implications of major assessments; show evidence of knowledge of and the ability to use educational technology and digital teaching and learning; show evidence of scholarly activity; display a commitment to public higher education.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preferred candidates should have public school teaching experience and hold/have held a license as a teacher, have practiced in scholarly activities, including action research, conference presentations, in-service workshops, and education-related community services; be familiar with national accreditation processes; and
  • Have teaching experience at the university level.
  • The department is interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching and service.
