Job description

The individual in this position provides project-based support for communications, public information, marketing, community engagement, and downtown engagement initiatives. The Communications & Community Engagement Intern assists with content creation, photography, videography, graphic design, social media, event support, research, and administrative projects while gaining practical experience in local government communications and community engagement. Essential duties include:

  • Assists with content creation for social media, website updates, newsletters, and promotional materials.
  • Assists with photography and videography of City projects, programs, events, meetings, and community initiatives.
  • Assists with graphic design projects and the development of digital and print marketing materials.
  • Supports website updates, content organization, and digital information management activities.
  • Assists with event planning, public engagement activities and citywide initiatives.
  • Assists with downtown events, promotions, and Main Street Program activities as assigned.
  • Conducts research and gathers information to support communications projects, presentations, campaigns, and reports.
  • Assists with monitoring social media engagement and preparing basic performance summaries.
  • Assists with maintaining photo, video, document, and communication archives.
  • Assists with administrative tasks, data entry, meeting preparation, and special projects.
  • Participates in department meetings and contributes creative ideas to support effective communication and community engagement efforts.
  • Represents the City in a professional manner during events and community activities.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
