Job Title: Process Improvement Engineer

Job Summary: This position is located at the Milliken – Magnolia Plant located in Blacksburg, SC and reports to the Process Improvement Manager. The position is responsible for leading continuous improvement efforts at the site. The position plays a key role in the development and implementation of manufacturing process improvements that drive new performance levels, improve quality, consistency, and cost. Typical hours are Monday—Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. However, due to continuous operations of the plant, the work schedule may require arriving before 8:00 am, staying beyond 5:00 pm, and participation in the management team weekend rotation schedule.

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the conditions that impact the processes and products
  • Use sound project management skills to manage multiple improvement projects
  • Analyze problems and implement solutions using critical thinking skills
  • Incorporate creative thinking to problem solving to identify unique and different ways to make things better/more consistent/faster/cheaper/efficient
  • Prepare diagrams, charts, tables to reflect findings and support recommendations
  • Work closely with the Product Development area to create new samples and products
  • Communicate and work effectively with a diverse group of associates to accomplish project and location goals
  • Participate fully in the Safety Process
  • Participate fully in Lean principles and MPS processes
  • Any other duties assigned by manager
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, etc. Engineering
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Textile, Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering major
  • Previous manufacturing experience (intern, co-op, or fulltime)
  • Communication skills – verbal, written, and group presentations
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Analytical/problem-solving skills
