Position Summary
The Lead SIT Engineer is a purely technical role with no people management responsibilities. This position combines deep hands-on testing with technical leadership - personally designing and executing integration tests, writing API-level test cases, and driving root-cause analysis, while also setting the technical direction for the SIT team, mentoring peers, and coordinating with Development and Product Management to keep quality gates on track. The ideal candidate thrives in a role where they are both an individual contributor and a technical anchor for the team.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities

  • Mentor and provide hands-on guidance to fellow SIT Engineers on testing techniques, tools, and best practices.
  • Act as the go-to technical resource for testing blockers, complex defect analysis, and environment issues.

Test Strategy & Planning
  • Own and maintain the overall integration test strategy, test plans, and traceability matrices across all active R&D programs.
  • Define test scope, entry/exit criteria, and risk-based coverage priorities for each release.
  • Drive continuous improvement in test processes, tooling, and coverage metrics.
  • Review requirements and design documents early in the SDLC to identify testability gaps.

Cross-Team Coordination
  • Act as the integration testing liaison between Systems Engineering, Software Development, and Product Management.
  • Coordinate test scheduling, environment readiness, and release sign-off across teams.
  • Communicate test status, defect trends, and quality risks clearly to all levels of the organization.
  • Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives as the QE voice.

Hands-On Test Execution
  • Design, develop, and execute system integration test cases for gaming server products and electronic gaming platforms.
  • Perform API-level (whitebox) testing across system components; maintain automated regression suites.
  • Identify root causes of defects; produce detailed bug reports with reproduction steps for Engineering.
  • Maintain SQL Server queries and scripts for data validation and test result analysis.

Requirements
Experience and Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of total software testing experience, including 4+ years in a lead test engineer role.
  • Proven experience testing electronic gaming systems (slot machines, gaming servers, or equivalent).
  • Experience testing gaming system components such as POS terminals, kiosks, and back-end server applications is highly desired.
  • Strong SQL Server skills - query writing, scripting, and database validation.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows environments and Windows-based application testing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable presenting quality metrics to leadership.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a systematic approach to root-cause analysis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Whitebox / API-level testing methodology; REST and WebSocket API test design.
  • Test automation experience using PowerShell or equivalent frameworks on Windows.
  • Microsoft SQL Server administration experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (TeamCity, Bitbucket).
  • Proficiency with Atlassian suite: Jira for defect tracking, Confluence for documentation.
  • Visual Studio debugging and source-level diagnostic experience.
  • Computer networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, network diagnostics).
