Overview
Seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) that will collaborate with DevOps engineers, developers, and cloud engineers to plan, design, and develop test automation in support of DevOps and Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery (CICD) pipelines. The SDET will develop test automation for integration, regression, and functional testing for systems to ensure compliance with system requirements and Navy Federal business practices and policies. Assists in the analysis of functional and technical requirements. Develop and maintain working knowledge of evolving SDET engineering technologies, concepts, and trends. The Test Automation Engineer may be responsible for testing web application User Interfaces, APIs, and participating in the development of test automation frameworks. The candidate must have excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a variety of audiences including management, DevOps engineers and product teams.

Responsibilities
  • Developing automated test scripts and frameworks to validate software functionality across different environments and configurations
  • Creating and maintaining automated tests using programming languages and testing frameworks like Selenium WebDriver, TestNG, Junit, Cucumber, Gherkin, and XPath depending on the technology stack
  • Collaborating with developers and quality assurance engineers to define test strategies, test plans, and test cases that align with business requirements
  • Investigating and troubleshooting issues, identifying bugs, and working with cross functional teams to prioritize and resolve them
  • Integrating automated tests into CICD pipelines to ensure that new code changes are continuously tested for quality and performance
  • Building and maintaining internal testing tools, frameworks, and infrastructure to support efficient test automation and continuous improvement
  • Analyzing test results and providing meaningful reports to stakeholders, highlighting issues and trends, and suggesting improvements
  • Participating in code reviews, providing feedback on testability, and promoting best practices for quality assurance within the development team
  • Working in agile or iterative development environments
  • Participating in Sprint planning standups, retrospectives, and other agile ceremonies to ensure quality goals are met
  • Escalate any risks in a timely manner
  • Present clear, organized, and concise information to all audiences through a variety of media to enable effective decisions
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Experience implementing cloud native test automation tools and defining frameworks and methods that increase efficiency and reduce Data Center footprint
  • Design and implement robust and scalable test automation solutions within an Azure DevOps and CI/CD environment to improve the quality of functional, regression, and system tests
  • Works collaboratively with cross-functional teams in agile settings to understand business requirements to develop test automation that supports DevOps and CI/CD
  • Strong experience with agile methodologies
  • Experience in streamlining continuous test processes that improve product delivery
  • Strong development skills in core Java concepts and Selenium Test Automation Framework development
  • Experience with Selenium WebDriver, TestNG, Junit, Cucumber, Gherkin, and XPath
  • Experience developing scripts to perform comprehensive automated testing on multiple platforms including web based, client server, and mainframe
  • Experience developing test automation for SOA Services and SOAP/REST APIs
  • Experience with Azure Repos, GitHub, Bitbucket or other software repositories
  • Experience with CI/CD pipeline tools such as Azure Pipelines, Jenkins, or Bamboo
  • Strong understanding of dependency management and build tools such as Maven
  • Proficient in keyword, data driven, and behavior-driven test automation development
  • Experience with test management tools such as Azure Test Plans, Jira, Micro Focus ALM/Octane
  • Develop and maintain reusable components, functions, methods, and libraries to reduce maintenance and increase efficiency and scalability
  • Ability to adhere to Software Engineering disciplines
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced skill building effective relationships through rapport, trust, diplomacy, and tact
  • Advanced organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Skill in exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, a related field, or equivalent experience

Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of multiple test automation tools and test automation patterns
  • Experience with evaluating new software testing tools and performing proof of concepts.
  • Experience developing YAML based Azure pipelines
  • Experience with one or more scripting languages to support CI/CD pipeline jobs
  • Experience writing test automation code with IntelliJ and/or Visual Studio Code
  • Experience with databases (Microsoft SQL Server is preferred)
  • ASTQB CTFL or CTAL-TAE Certification
  • Working knowledge of banking/financial industry standards and practices
