What is an intern roto paint artist?

An Intern Roto Paint Artist is an entry-level position in the visual effects (VFX) industry, responsible for assisting with the removal of unwanted elements from live-action footage and creating clean plates for compositing. This role involves using software tools to trace (rotoscope) moving objects and paint out wires, rigs, or other imperfections frame by frame. Interns are usually learning the basics of rotoscoping, paint work, and VFX workflows while working under the guidance of senior artists. This position is ideal for those looking to start a career in VFX and develop practical skills in digital artistry.

Familiarity with industry-standard software such as Nuke, After Effects, and Photoshop is typically required. Attention to detail, patience, and effective communication help you excel in fast-paced, collaborative post-production environments.
