Job description

High School Intern

Summary:
Requires the ability to perform light maintenance and repairs which include lube, oil, and filter
changes, balancing and rotation of tires, and flushing cooling systems. This is an entry level
position to mentor and teach the basics of diesel mechanics and to give the student experience in a
shop environment.


Essential Duties:
Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with
dealership and factory standards
Assist other Service Technicians in heavy-duty truck repair
Attend training sessions to gain knowledge and experience
Maintain a neat and orderly work area
Neatly record job summary for all assigned repairs
Participate in required educational training as assigned by Service Manager
Complete required trainings in designated timeframe
Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts
Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer
Documents all work performed on the repair order
Keeps abreast of machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor
Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals
Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner
Attends company trainings as required
Maintains and cleans vehicles and surrounding shop area
Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in Senior year of High school
Must have a valid Driver License
Must have the ability to work while maintaining mandatory school schedule
Must be able to obtain a work permit from the school board.


Work Environment:

The employee will be exposed to moving parts and electrical current. Exposed also
to grease, chemicals, dust, dirt, and the heat and cold of the outdoors.

This position requires the employee to frequently work in a crouched position or lying on back on
mechanic's dolly beneath motor vehicles. Employee is required to reach and work overhead
frequently and should be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
