Position Summary

The Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Plant Operator is responsible for the daily operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the organization’s membranebased water treatment systems at the Moss Point, MS location. This role ensures the consistent production of highquality water by operating RO units, performing routine inspections, troubleshooting system issues, conducting laboratory testing, and maintaining accurate operational records. The operator follows established safety, environmental, and regulatory standards to ensure reliable system performance and compliance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain the Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment plant and associated equipment, including pumps, membranes, filters, chemical feed systems, storage tanks, and instrumentation.
  • Conduct routine inspections to verify system performance, pressure levels, flow rates, water quality, and equipment condition.
  • Perform daily water quality testing (e.g., pH, conductivity, turbidity, chlorine, TDS) and adjust treatment processes as needed.
  • Monitor SCADA or plant control systems to track operational data and respond to alarms.
  • Assist with membrane cleaning, integrity testing, replacement, and preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Collect samples and maintain records in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, chemical, and process issues to minimize downtime.
  • Safely handle, store, and apply treatment chemicals following company procedures and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and equipment.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
  • Support continuous improvement and optimization of plant performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in water treatment preferred.
  • 1–3+ years of experience in water treatment systems, membrane filtration, or RO operations (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Experience working with industrial water systems, boilers, cooling towers, or wastewater treatment is a plus.

Licenses & Certifications

  • State Water Operator Certification preferred or ability to obtain within required timeline.
  • Valid driver’s license required with acceptable driving record.
  • OSHA or safetyrelated certifications is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Understanding of RO processes, membrane operations, water chemistry, and filtration principles.
  • Ability to read schematics, P&IDs, gauges, meters, and technical manuals.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude for pumps, valves, motors, and instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of chemical dosing and safe handling procedures.
  • Proficient in basic computer use (SCADA interfaces, MS Office, digital logs).
  • Ability to diagnose operational issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, or climb for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to use PPE, including gloves, respirators, and eye protection as required.

Work Schedule

  • Full-time position with potential for rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and oncall assignments based on operational needs.

Work Environment

  • Industrial water treatment plant setting with exposure to chemicals, pressurized systems, noise, and moving equipment.
  • Follows all safety and environmental protocols.
