Senior Product Development Engineer
About the Role
RF and high-speed data converter development at Analog Devices requires ownership of evaluation, characterization, and product readiness for advanced ADC/DAC products and their supporting RF signal chains. The role leads qualification and silicon validation work across multiple product lines, partners closely with design, test, and applications teams, and improves lab automation and characterization methods to ensure converter performance meets aggressive datasheet requirements and customer use cases. The position also provides technical guidance to junior engineers and helps scale repeatable validation processes.
Key Responsibilities
  • Converter evaluation & bring-up: ADC/DAC bring-up, functional validation, and configuration bring-up on lab platforms and evaluation boards.
  • Characterization & datasheet readiness: Converter performance characterization (SNR/SFDR/ENOB, noise, linearity, distortion, spurs, bandwidth, clocking sensitivity) across PVT and operating modes; correlation of bench data to simulation/model expectations; definition of recommended settings and operating limits.
  • RF performance validation: RF signal-chain validation for converter applications (front-end alignment, filtering, gain staging, LO/clock integrity, coupling paths) and translation of findings into actionable guidance.
  • Debug & root-cause isolation: Spur hunting and distortion isolation, clock/jitter sensitivity analysis, interface/configuration state isolation, and cross-functional closure of silicon issues with clear hypotheses and experiment design.
  • Qualification leadership: Qualification planning and execution tied to converter and RF performance requirements, including definition of stress conditions, coverage, and pass/fail criteria.
  • Production/test correlation: Bench-to-ATE correlation for converter metrics; support for test content definition, limits, guard-bands, and yield robustness.
  • Automation & process improvement: Measurement automation and data reduction (Python/MATLAB/instrument control), repeatable characterization "recipes," and tooling that reduces cycle time and improves traceability.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Crisp communication of risks, results, and recommendations to design/test/apps/program stakeholders to maintain schedule and quality.

Must Have Skills
  • High-Speed Data Converter Validation: Deep hands-on experience evaluating and characterizing high-speed ADCs/DACs and interpreting core performance metrics (SNR/SFDR/ENOB, IMD, ACPR/EVM concepts where relevant).
  • RF Measurements & Lab Skills: Strong experience with RF bench equipment and measurement setups (signal generators, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, phase noise/jitter measurement tools, high-speed probing/fixtures).
  • Clocking/Jitter & Signal Integrity Awareness: Ability to analyze clock/jitter contributors and their impact on converter performance and spurious behavior.
  • Spur/Noise Debugging: Proven approach to isolate distortion/spurs via controlled experiments, configuration sweeps, and data-driven hypothesis testing.
  • Lab Automation & Data Analysis: Proven ability to automate tests and analyze large datasets (Python preferred; MATLAB acceptable).
  • Qualification Testing: Leadership in developing and executing qualification/characterization programs tied to product requirements.
  • Cross-Functional Execution: Track record of coordinating across design/test/apps to drive issues to closure and hit milestone

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master's degree preferred in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with RF system-level thinking (e.g., receiver/transmitter chains, gain budgeting, blockers/intermod considerations).
  • Demonstrated technical leadership abilities
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Beamforming experience: Familiarity with phased-array concepts (array calibration, LO/clock distribution impacts, multi-channel synchronization, channel-to-channel matching, and beamforming performance metrics).
